Moving toward proper BLP

[edit]

While it's nice to see that Lucy has her own article now (a feat her arguably more-famous aunts Maggie and Terre have yet to achieve), this won't last long if we don't provide more reliable sources and write it in a more encyclopedic (i.e., less fannish) style. To this end, I've done some work on the article:

  • Unilaterally assumed (in the face of conflicting evidence from only one source) that she is "Roche, Lucy Wainwright", not "Wainwright-Roche, Lucy" (or for that matter "Roche Wainwright, Lucy", which was the previous default-sort and which I don't get at all), and updated several elements of the article on this basis;
  • Changed most occurrences of "Lucy" to "Roche", as it's Wikipedia practice to refer to the subject by surname except when necessary to distinguish her from related people (e.g., in the "Family" section);
  • Tried to trim some fannish and/or superfluous material (e.g., deleted "known for her singing voice" from an article about a singer);
  • Changed claims of future events to plans, not facts;
  • Updated and fleshed out incomplete and broken sources already in the article;
  • Copyedited to get closer to Wikipedia's general style practices (although there may yet be some gaps);

... and so on. But this won't prevent the notability police (of which I'm an occasional member) from rightly demanding reliable sources that not only support the statements in the article but also provide solid evidence that Lucy Roche is indeed a encyclopedic subject at this time. I ask regular editors to this article to start drumming up more of those sources and citing them. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 00:50, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's about five years later. II just saw Lucy open for Shawn Calvin in Chicago, a two-night stand. I would say she is rather notable by now. Are things better in this WP:BLP, you suppose? --Mareklug talk 01:18, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
