[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... Luc Rombouts is one of the key figures in the carillon world today. Not only is he an outstanding carillonneur, among the numerous distinctions and awards he has received for his cultural achievements, he was awarded the Visser-Neerlandia Price of culture in 2011 (cf. https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANV-Visser_Neerlandia-prijs) in addition to the Gold Label awarded by Klassiek Centraal for his latest work, unanimously regarded as a quality reference book, Zingend brons: 500 jaar beiaardmuziek in de Lage Landen en de Nieuwe Wereld. (trans. Singing Bronze: 500 Years of Carillon Music in the Low Countries and the New World).

Please note that the Visser-Neerlandia Price is one of the highest distinctions one can get for outstanding cultural and/or artistic achievements and contributions in the Dutch-speaking world.

Luc Rombouts has also been a very productive writer and contributor to numerous journals and magazines, in addition to having published books on different aspects (historical, political, social, economical etc.) of the carillon. Please refer to his page in Dutch https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luc_Rombouts to which I will be adding an extra section with a list of his awards and distinctions. He has recently (March 2013) submitted a dossier at the UNESCO to have the art of carillon playing declared as an intangible world heritage.

I will be translating all the info from Dutch to English in the coming hours/days to make the English version more complete. Thanks you for your patience.
