I lived in Lubbock in the 1940s. The stadium seated about 3,000 in those days, and when two major league teams visited to play an exhibition game in the spring of 1947 I can remember people seated on the ground around the outfield fence several people deep. Our family movies show this event. The team had a small bus like a Grey Hound bus. That is the way they traveled between cities in the League. As I recall two of the players on the championship team made it to the majors - Bill Senera and Clem Cola in the early 1950s.
