OVERALL REVIEW

After thoroughly reviewing this article, I have decided to put the article on hold at this time. There are a few issues keeping this article from good article status. First of all, there are numerous minor issues which I listed below that are affecting the quality of the article. Also, many of the references aren't properly formatted. I will give you the general seven days to fix the mistakes and/or debate the ones you do not believe affect GA status. - Rp0211 (talk2me) 05:25, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Oh, it looks like someone has gone through and made the changes that I was going to do..... Calvin 999 21:45, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

I thought that all editors could participate on GA corrections. No one takes away your merit. But still there are errors to fix. VítoR™ get LOUD! 22:11, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
All comments have been addressed Rp0211. Is there is anything else that concerns you that I can amend? Calvin 999 22:29, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
Since all of the issues have been addressed, I have decided to put this article in good article status at this time. I will work on uploading a music file for this article to add clarity. Congratulations and keep up the good work. - Rp0211 (talk2me) 23:20, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

background and authorship

It's rather atrocious that this can become a good article without so much as a paragraph discussing that Skylar Grey wrote most of Rihanna's vocals in both Part and Part II, the composition included, and doesn't mention the circumstances in which the song was sold, that she sung the original recording (since released by PopEater), and it was this recording that changed Rihanna's mind about a sequel. I have since tried to fix this. Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (be free) 19:59, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Can you wait for a discussion to take place here first before you go with guns blazing and make drastic edits to a GA article? If you are going to say something on this talk page and not wait for other opinions, what was the point of writing here when you clearly had a pre-mediated intention of doing it anyway. Your edits have been reverted. You had been reverted once, then made another edit to the article. If you get reverted, that generally means you are wrong. You also gave several sources which I am pretty sure are not reliable and you formatted several references wrongly. Calvin 999 22:16, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Calm down lad. I've been here longer than you have, and it would be wise not to get blocked for incivility. Afaik being GA, or FA is no reason to suspend WP:BOLD I would appreciate it if you fix, rather than revert my edits. 137.54.31.45 (talk) 22:56, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Are you La goutte de pluie? Why are you using an IP address account? So that your actual account can't be warned or blocked? Don't add the material. Prose is bad, some sources are not valid and some you haven't even provided a source. Calvin 999 22:58, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
It's difficult to log in off my phone. (Autocomplete and all.) Kindly refrain from bad faith accusations. I understand my prose is bad; I am in a hurry. Can you state your reasons for your dispute over my sources? They are independent and they are not self-published; published interviews are perfectly valid sources. See our policy on sources. In addition, more references generally never hurt. It is considered good form to fix someone's edits rather than revert them; you can fix what you perceive as bad prose. Be bold. Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (be free) 23:20, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Let's discuss the sources in-depth shall we?
  • PopEater interview: [1] not self-published, an actual interview with the songwriter, generally reliable with editorial discretion, PopEater itself is now under the Huffington Post.
  • AllHipHop.com interview -- what problems do you have with this one?
  • Billboard.com interview with Alex da Kid: -- as far as I can see, this generally passes WP:RS.
  • TheWorldLink.com interview -- see examples where we have used similar sources before, without objection.
Could you then elucidate upon your objections? Thanks. Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (be free) 23:53, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
I've never seen 2 of them before, I questioned their reliability. Calvin 999 02:02, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
"I've never seen them" is not really good grounds for rejecting sources. The way to examine sources is 1) are they independent? 2) do they exercise editorial discretion? how strong is it? 3) what is their impact factor? Hopes this helps. Cheers. I do not understand what you are trying to add to this article. HER version of the song has not been OFFICIALLY released. And besides, she wouldn't have recorded a version of the song with the label (Part II). Whether Part II is the original version or not - an infobox for her original demo is irrelevant to this article. The background sections seems good enough. Now, if she puts the album on her own album, it might become a different story. But for now, I say it's fine the way it is. And besides, it has just became a GA article and Calvin looks to have worked really hard on it, and what you are doing now here is changing a lot on the article, thus comprising it's GA status. nding·start 20:19, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

THANK YOU. Calvin 999 01:54, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
I respect his work, but even featured articles often get massively changed the day they hit the front page. This is a Good Thing (tm). The primary criterion for inclusion of information is that of references -- part of the Five Pillars of Wikipedia. elle vécut heureuse à jamais (be free) 18:27, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

She has released the demo Look At the buried sessions of Skylar Grey. 98.110.220.218 (talk) 17:05, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
