", and analyze" over against ", analyzing"
[edit]Modern usage allows "analyzing" to mean "and analyze" at the end of sentences according to The Oxford dictionary of American usage and style: Ending Sentences with Danglers. (See pages 92-93) --Firefly322 (talk) 18:48, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Describing the book clearly
[edit]Whilst looking for the ISBN of the first edition, I came across this description on a 2nd-hand dealer's page:
[Rollo] analyzes the pressures that have arisen in today's transitional period between the old world and the new, the forces that lead to a general malaise, impersonality, a sort of dehumanization.
Although perhaps written a bit above the level of the average reader, this has the advantage of actually giving a clear description of the book -- something that the current turgid & oblique prose is lacking. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 06:52, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
