"New" fansite
[edit]I've been the webmaster of a French Louis de Funès fansite since December 14th, 2000, FufuWorld. Since May 16th, 2006, it is now available in English as well. So I wondered if it would be interesting to place an external link to it on this page? I'm asking this, because each time I added it to the French Louis de Funès article, it got removed, so... - Please do so! While Louis de Funès is a superstar in many countries & there are innumberable websites about him in those languages, in the English-speaking world he is pretty much unknown and there are very few English-language websites about him. So yours would probably be notable. Esn 06:46, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! I've added it to the article, hoping that it'll not be removed, like with the French Wikipedia article about Louis de Funès. But, as you've said, it would probably be more interesting to place it here, as I've also noticed that there are very few English-language fan websites about the actor. I'm actually wondering if mine would be the only one which is available in English... I hope not! Maxime Abbey 09:37, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
ROQUETAILLADE?
[edit]Why is there a link to Chateau de Roquetaillade at the end? There is no mention of it in the bio.
Fair use rationale for Image:Louis de funes rabbi jacob.jpg
[edit]Image:Louis de funes rabbi jacob.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Countries where he was famous
[edit]I addedp on the top of the page also Albania, since Louis de Funès was also well known there with his series of Saint Tropez Gendarmeries. Very hilarious and the best comedies ever seen. Illuminati 10:05, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Louis de Funes is also CURRENT superstar in Russia as he was superstar in USSR. Todays all films with this legendary actor remains very popular also in all former Soviet republics. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.0.210.102 (talk) 15:51, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- He is somewhat famous in Israel and some of his films are shown on tv once in a while or sometimes there are marathons of his movies. The ones I remember seeing in Israel:
The one where he is a manager of a restaurant and there is one waiter that always sucks up to him He is a food critic and his son is a clown in a circus without him knowing Two or three Fantomas films when he is a shop keeper for sport items and he wants to rob a local bank When his son winds up with a few babies supposedly his and his father needs to solve it (funes) The one where he's a crooked tax collector in enchant times. Where he's the head of a company I think and he has a worker that starts killing people to advance in the company - great movie Another one where he is a school master and his kid runs off to marry a girl from the USA. Another one with the british guy from It's a mad mad world, and Kill or Cure, where they try to escape from nazis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Grande_Vadrouille) Maybe there are a few more that I can't remember--217.132.171.57 (talk) 14:14, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Burial site?
[edit]Currently, the article states that his remains were interred in his castle's garden - and - that he was buried in the cemetery of Le Cellier. Either one of those statements is wrong, or his remains were transferred at some point. The picture of his grave, at least, looks more like a cemetery than a castle garden...anybody know for sure? 62.158.83.130 (talk) 18:07, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
It was de Funés wish to be buried in his garden, but authorities refused this as illegal. Also his burial was intended to be in family circle, but thousands of people appeared, among them actor collegue Michel Galabru who was interviewed for TV 37.157.153.110 (talk) 18:08, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
English speaking ability
[edit]"de Funès spoke French, Spanish and English well". In many of his movies, he speaks English with a terrible French accent. Obviously, he is acting. Are there any sources that can reveal his real English speaking abilities, e.g. interviews in English? How is his accent, then? In "l'homme orchestre", he has a few lines in English and in Spanish. His Spanish sounds quite good (?), but his English is atrocious. It'd be interesting to put the quoted statement into perspective. AugustinMa (talk) 12:36, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
De Funès speaks english in "l´homme orchestre", as also in "le gendarme à New York" and "les grandes vacances", with a terrible accent but quite correct phrasing ... which by french standards is already advanced. France has quite a reputation that still a lot of its native inhabitants only speak their mother tongue. 37.157.153.110 (talk) 18:20, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Filmography
[edit]Why is the filmography broken into two separate tables? I don't see a reason being given. Furthermore, they share the same year, which doesn't seem orthodox when doing different periods of a person's life or career. What's the point of separation then? Also, both tables have a seemingly random alternation of thick and thin horizontal lines. I can't figure out how that's used. Kumagoro-42 (talk) 01:49, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
Death
[edit]"caused by the excessive strain of his stage antics."
Where is reference to this? Seems unlikely that physical exercise would cause heart condition, it is more like opposite. Unless there was already heart condition. 82.131.106.162 (talk) 09:53, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
