bad rap
[edit]the music was horrible, but the screenplay, acting and sets were all first-class. it's actually a line call which version is better -- shangri-la set and some of the storyline was better in this one; baskul escape and snow scenes were better in the 1937 original, if only for the "magic" of black & white (ideal version would have been oz-style...black and white suddenly changing to colour when they arrived in shangri-la).
the only thing "wrong" with it, really, was those SONGS! i can't BELIEVE bacharach was responsible for that dreck!!
if they'd left those out, it would have been a very very worthy remake. in fact, i am tempted to edit myself a copy along those lines.
does not deserve to be on any "worst films" list. it's really quite good. 209.172.25.14 (talk) 04:09, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
