Fair use rationale

[edit]

for Image:Lorraine 2015.JPG

[edit]

Image:Lorraine 2015.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:49, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are George and Lorraine cousins

[edit]

For Lorraine Baines to look so much like Maggie Mcfly, they are probably related by blood. This means that it is very likely that either:

  1. One of Lorraine's grandparents was one of Maggie's children, making George McFly and Lorraine second cousins.
  2. One of Lorraine's great-grandparents was one of Maggie's siblings, making George and Lorraine third cousins.
  3. One of Lorraine's great-great-grandparents was one of Maggie's parents, making George and Lorraine fourth cousins.

Without a source this is of course speculation, but was such a thing discussed somewhere citeable? —MJBurrage(TC) 18:19, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was discussed by the film's creators in their Back to the Future Frequently Asked Questions, about halfway down the list, but I don't think their explanation is needed in this article. GUllman (talk) 20:33, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lorraine is not in the 1955 parts of Back to the Future III, is she?

[edit]

In Back to the Future III, the only characters that appear in the 1955 parts are Marty and Doc, right? Please discuss —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sorenlarrington (talkcontribs) 06:54, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An odd sentence.

[edit]

"It may be just possible that the McFly males had a fetish for women of Lorraine's looks and build."

Seems to just be some fans opinion, not fact, or backed up. I'm removing it, if anyone objects, say why. EvangelionTesttype (talk) 17:25, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lorraine Baines McFlyLorraine McFly — The imdb source gives the character name as Lorraine McFly. Baines is her family name and McFly the married name, therefore, also out of order per common naming conventions. NorthernThunder (talk) 22:11, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • IMDB has the character as Lorraine Baines, with Lorraine McFly as an alternative name. "Lorraine Baines McFly" is not recognised by IMDB, but seems to be a valid alternative. In a Google Books search, Baines seems to be slightly more common than the other two versions. Peter E. James (talk) 17:21, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support After consulting my DVDs I see she is listed as Lorraine Baines in the credits of the first film, Lorraine in the second, and Lorraine McFly in the third. She is not referred to as Lorraine Baines McFly in the credits, or anywhere else in the films as far as I know. That name may well be original research, as much of this article appears to be.
