[edit]Please, do not delete this article. This piece of history - the first female PhD from Caltech - has historical significance. I will add references to her work. Another significant historical detail is that Lorraine Foster's thesis advisor at Caltech was another female, Olga Taussky-Todd. Taussky-Todd was not a faculty member at the time. All Caltech Math faculty were males.
