Checking
[edit]This article was created by editor Sonustar, whom I believe to be Aisha Goodison, Lorna Goodison's niece. The article as originally created was a paean to the grandeur of the Goodison family. Lorna Goodison is a published poet and professor, and does seem to deserve an article -- however, press-release style praise is not encyclopedic.
All the publication info needs to be checked and given proper references. I hope that someone else can do that, as I'm grotesquely over-committed to various Wikipedia tasks. Zora 05:28, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
This article is sub-standard. Nothing is sourced. If no one has the time to fix (I do not) it should be removed. [[User: otherfates[]] 12 August 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Otherfates (talk • contribs) 09:32, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Poet Laureate
[edit]I think this needs further checking. We have one Jamaica Observer confirmation as posted by Sonustar: Article from the Jamaica Observer newspaper referring to Goodison in her official post as the Nation's Poet Laureate. All I can find corroborating this is two press releases by Aisha [1], [2].
What troubles me is that the Poet Laureate detail is not confirmed elsewhere. Why is it not on her official workplace CV here and here, or in this detailed biography? Tearlach 20:21, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
