He is not only a superb scientist, but also a nice person.

Review comments

[edit]

Some suggestions for improvement as the article is expanded:

  • Template:Infobox Scientist should be added
  • Photograph should be added from a source with a free license
  • Article needs expanding and should emphasise reasons for notability of subject
  • Information on research should be converted into prose and expanded, and references required
  • References should be added, preferably in the inline format

Notability

[edit]

I'd like the original author of the article, provided they still participate in the project, to give a rationale for Cederbaum's notability. However enamoured I myself am with chemistry (being a student of it at RWTH Aachen University), and specifically with the sub-discipline of physical chemistry, nevertheless I question the academic value of this article. While Cederbaum may be a great researcher and a competent teacher, I fail to see his specific notability in his field - neither in the article nor in the externally linked pages. He seems like a generic university professor to me.

By comparison, I could create articles on Prof. Dr. Ulrich Simon (anorganic chemistry: metal and semiconductor nanostructures, biomolecular materials, hydrogen fuel cells), Prof. Dr. Richard Dronskowski (quantum chemistry and solid state chemistry) or Prof. Dr. Arne Lüchow (theoretical chemistry: ab initio calculations of molecular structures, mathematical modelling of chemical processes), all hailing from the RWTH, as I believe them to be experts in their respective fields and great lecturers. However, I severely doubt that any of them merits encyclopedic mention...(though you can gladly convince me of the opposite ;) ).

As a conclusion, I'd like the author(s) to give a detailed rationale on why Cederbaum is notable and worthy of inclusion in the encyclopedia. In case this does not happen after a period of 4-5 weeks, I will submit a RfD. Vargher (talk) 03:22, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating
