Great Chamberlain is English
[edit]Great Chamberlain is English. They were always called either Chamberlain of Scotland or Lord Chamberlain in all the written records I have seen. I have never seen 'Great' in a Scottish record. David Lauder 20:34, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yes. 'Lord Chamberlain' is an address though. Title should be Chamberlain of Scotland or Chamberlain (Scotland). Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 09:44, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, I think this page looks better at "Chamberlain of Scotland", so will move it there if no probs.Brendandh (talk) 15:49, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Query
[edit]According to Cockaine's Complete Peerage, the century earlier 1867 edition of Anderson's Scottish Nation, Haydn's Book of Dignities (1851) and elsewhere, James, 2nd Lord Crichton (d.1454) he was appointed Great Chamberlain of Scotland in 1440 until his death. There seems to be no doubt that Lord Livingstone spent a couple of years during that time in this position although given that the next Great Chamberlain took office in 1454 this seems to lend some credence to Crichton's position as that is his year of death. Moreover, the Exchequer Rolls are cited as evidence, yet their list ends in 1406. 2A00:23C4:B617:7D01:B540:9D6A:82D7:9C36 (talk) 09:37, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
