Location of Loping Airfield

There is no specific reference provided to support the coordinates provided in the article.

I believe that they are in error (and I would like to know how they were derived, for they locate Loiwing Aerodrome, in which I do have an interest).

I also do not have a text reference for the coordinates of Loping Airfield. However, I do have bearings and distances from Kunming for the airfield. That is in the webpage Assam-Bengal-China Air Routes and the specific graphic Route Easy.

The identification of the airfield is: "HP|LOPING / ELEV 5084' / BEACON 565 HP / TOWER 240 HP"

Flight instructions at the right side of the graphic are, in words:

    1. From Kunming to Luliang: 54 statute miles on bearing 91°
    2. From Luliang to Loping: 47 statute miles on bearing 93°

Applying these instructions to Google Earth puts one in the vicinity of a runway apparently not currently in use for fixed wing aircraft, but very visible from the air, at N24°50.80 E104°18.56. In confirmation, the runway center is about 4500 meters (~3 miles) south of a community named "Luoping" at N24°53 E104°18.5.

The coordinates for Loping Airfield should be changed from the existing 23°55'07"N 097°41'45"E to 24°50'48"N 104°18'34".

With the relocation of the airfield, certain details in the article proper require revision:

    Para 1: delete "4 miles west-northwest of Jiexiangxiang" and add "3 miles south of Luoping". 

    Para 2: [word correction] ". . . 1945, when their closed . . ." to ". . . 1945, when they closed . . ."

    Para 3: delete entire para and add 
    "The runway is not now used for fixed wing aircraft. 
    A resort facility has been developed at the south end of the runway for housing visitors 
    and providing them helicopter service to view canola crops when they blossom."

One entry under References needs to be adjusted:

    Maurer, Maurer: there is a copy of this available on line and the link should be added.

One entry under References should be deleted because it does not mention Loping (or Luoping):
