I remember seeing specialist comments around the time that despite some sensationalist headlines using the term, the event shouldn't be called a mass shooting as the perpetrator wasn't indiscriminately firing into crowds with the aim of causing death. --Paul_012 (talk) 10:42, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see why it can't be both. A similar case to this is the Lane Bryant shooting, where a man shot five people to death during a robbery. In the Wiikipedia article for that incident, it is listed as both a mass shooting and an armed robbery. It can also be argued that the perpetrator of this shooting was indiscriminately firing into crowds with the aim of causing death. It's safe to say that he didn't shoot people because they weren't complying with his demands, as he never made any demands (he didn't speak during it), and only two of the victims were employees. The perpetrator claims that he shot two of the people accidentally, one to cause panic, and the rest because he "went crazy." Silent-Rains (talk) 20:24, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
