Was he really involved in Miles Davis' album, On the Corner?

---He played on the song Ife, which appears on The Complete On the Corner Sessions Box Set (2007). That may be where the confusion came from. Tracks for On the Corner were recorded June 1, 6 and July 7, 1972. Ife was recorded June 12 1972 and appeared on Big Fun (1974).
