Institutionalizing positions
[edit]There have been attempts over the years to restrict PBSC membership to those holding (or about to hold) other specific titles, including Chairman / General Secretary / Secretary General of the CCP; National People's Congress Chair; Discipline Inspection Commission Chair, Military Affairs Commission Chair; State President; Premier of the State Council; and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Congress Chair. Generally, the effort has met with only limited success.
