[edit]I remember seeing HOT TUNA there quite frequently and the revamped JEFFERSON STARSHIP circa 1975. In addition, the roller derby team the NEW YORK CHIEFS played there throughout the 70's. 173.2.216.187 (talk) 22:27, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
The Last Jam
[edit]The Long Island Arena is also the venue where, on December 8, 1973, the final official match of Leo Seltzer's International Roller Derby League was held. The New York Chiefs played the Midwest Pioneers. The oil embargo and the crisis that followed made it impossible for teams and officials to travel and equipment to be shipped from one venue to another. From there on, roller derby would never be the same.
