I'd like to propose an edit to this page. There has been a lot of recent research in the area of LARC in the last couple years. I work with the authors of a lot of those articles and would like to update this page. Currently I'm in the process of having a physician review my edits for accuracy. Overall I would like to improve the quality of this page, because I know that it is considered of lower quality. SarahRose12 34 (talk) 18:22, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Contraceptive injection - LARC?
[edit]I propose we remove the injection from the list of LARCs. The typical use efficacy of the injection is more similar to oral contraceptives than it is to the other LARC methods. It also diverges from the other methods in terms of how long it lasts (months vs years). I'm open to other opinions though. DocMuffin (talk) 02:18, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
April 2024--Making updates!
[edit]Hello fellow LARC talk page folks! I came across this article and feel like it could use some updates. Here are the updates I propose:
1) remove contraceptive injections, as most leading medical groups do not consider injections to be LARCs.
2) Update older information, particularly older references. A lot of research has been done about LARCS in the last ten years, especially on the social and cultural meanings of the devices.
3) Fill out table
4)Medical use section: add information on other effects of LARCs, such as menstrual regulation, cramping relief, and as emergency contraception
5) Update the side effects section to be more well-rounded; side effects can be intense with LARCs and this section seems rather brief.
6) Cost and benefit: add citations
7) Promotion: update citations
8) I would like to add another section that includes information about LARC "controversies" (for lack of a better term.) A lot of research has documented patients feeling pressured to choose LARCs, especially after the promotion campaigns documented in the Promotion section. I would like to include information about the drive toward patient-centered contraceptive care the has evolved from this.
If anyone has qualms with these plans, wants to make suggestions, or would like to also work to update this page, please be in touch! Annabelle francesca olb (talk) 01:29, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
