Mansard / Mansart
[edit]Strangely the actual architect these were named after was called Mansart. Should we note this if we can find a citation? RoyalBlueStuey (talk) 10:05, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
Technical aspects...?
[edit]Like... comparison of conduciveness to conversion of prefabricated trusses and of 'proper' roofs; fire regulations; reinforcing rafters; relocating water tank (maybe) etc.
Also, "(C)Loftplan"... is that allowed?

I've added a section on structural aspects which can be expanded on to cover some of the suggested items such as truss roofs and reinforcing rafters.

Neutral sources? UK bias?
[edit]As of today, there are two tags at the top of the page. One hopes that these problems are soon rectified. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 03:33, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
10 and a half years later no improvement. As I suggest below best to rename IMHO to reflect that it is a UK based article GRALISTAIR (talk) 18:58, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
Guardian ref
[edit]Suggest removal of Gaurdian reference. The article quotes numerous figures which are now well out of date as the article is 11 years old. Agree with previous edit that reference should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.110.10.14 (talk) 12:49, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
- It's a reliable source in how it is used. The other information is irrelevant. --Ronz (talk) 17:28, 30 November 2018 (UTC)
Move -retitle - Loft conversions in the United Kingdom
[edit]One way to resolve the issue of UK bias is to simply rename the page. What do you think? GRALISTAIR (talk) 15:14, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
I am going to be adding a few photos of a dormer extension - conversion by the way GRALISTAIR (talk) 15:18, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
