[edit]This article lists among the "defunct" Loblaws banners as being Lucky Dollar and Shop Easy. I live in an area served by one of the few remaining Super Valu stores in western Canada, and occasionally they'll have inserts in their flyer that make reference to Lucky Dollar and Shop Easy. While the Loblaws website and annual reports don't mention these retailer groups specifically, I'm pretty sure they still exist in small numbers. 205.250.144.123 (talk) 04:54, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Validity of Controversy section
I am not aware of municipalities having the power to bar businesses from operating under certain names. I question the validity of the statements made in the Controversy section. 209.202.75.14 (talk) 13:27, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Branding
[edit]I have recently noticed some Loblaws stores (in the GTA) being rebranded "Loblaw SuperStore" and not Real Canadian SuperStore. Is this a new brand? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ergosteur (talk • contribs) 03:35, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
yes in Some Real Candian Superstores in Ontario are being renamed Loblaw Real Canadian Superstore —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.224.42.232 (talk) 06:31, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
yes in Some Real Candian Superstores in Ontario are being renamed Loblaw Real Canadian Superstore
look at these links
http://www.superstore.ca/ontario/Default.aspx the first link has the loblaw name on it
http://www.superstore.ca/west/Default.aspx the second link is from out west
and the company has decided to keep it as real Canadian Superstore name out west
and in Ontario all Rcss are being renamed Lrcss

Use of the word Banner
[edit]Banners is used in the wrong sense here. In Loblaws terms it is associated with store branding, so Loblaw banners includes all stores owned or associated with Loblaws. This would include Fortinos, No Frills and the other 500 names, not just Loblaw. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.196.173.205 (talk) 06:20, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- The article is already using the word in that context. What specifically do you want to change? --A Knight Who Says Ni (talk) 01:31, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Biased language
[edit]The following statement was used without quotations, uses first person language and appears to be the opinion of the writer:
" In the early days when I started the cash and carry business, I was told that it could not be done, but my contention was that the people of Toronto and Ontario would welcome the opportunity to carry their groceries home, providing I could offer them higher qualities at a much lower price than they were used to paying.[5]"
The cited link also seems very suspicious. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.148.112.235 (talk) 15:19, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

potential typo
[edit]Robert Sawyer is not the current CEO of Loblaw according to Bloomberg, he is the Cheif Operating Officer(https://www.bloomberg.com/profile/person/13373940#xj4y7vzkg) The current CEO of Loblaw who will step down in the near future is Galen G. Weston (https://ca.linkedin.com/in/galen-g-weston-3654442a#:~:text=Galen%20G.,Executive%20Chairman%20%2D%20Loblaw%20Companies%20Ltd.) - Not going to review this, but I would like to say that the article is currently nominated to appear on ITN, which iirc means this DYK nom has to be put on hold until that's done. Scientia potentia est, MonarchOfTerror 09:25, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- No problem, I probably won’t be able to have the QPQ finished for a bit anyways. B3251 (talk) 09:42, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Long enough, new enough, very well cited - not surprising given it's on the national news every day. QPQ and it's good to go. Maury Markowitz (talk) 15:37, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Maury Markowitz: QPQ added, it's been getting absolutely ripped to shreds in ITN noms so I'm not sure if I need to wait for it to be closed or not, but it is not being promoted there lol. Thanks for the review, B3251 (talk) 16:16, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- @B3251: It can’t be promoted at the present state it’s still technically pending nomination to appear as a bold link on the main page. I think the best course of action for you if you believe that the ITN nom is totally hopeless is to withdraw the ITN nom and just focus on DYK instead, unless you want to bet on the extremely low chance that the consensus at ITN somehow drastically changes. Scientia potentia est, MonarchOfTerror 16:56, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- @MonarchOfTerror: How do I withdraw it? B3251 (talk) 17:07, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- @B3251: You do it by just closing the discussion as normal, just put withdrawn in the result parameter. However it seems that the nomination has already been closed by another editor, so there’s no need to do that now. The DYK can be promoted now. Scientia potentia est, MonarchOfTerror 17:27, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- @MonarchOfTerror: Thanks, but it seems that it was already closed. The editor who closed it also setup an AfD, so I'm not totally sure how this DYK can go. B3251 (talk) 17:29, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- @B3251: I did not see the AfD nomination. So it looks like this DYK nom has to go on hold regardless, since we have to wait for the AfD to end first since articles nominated for AfD/merging can’t be promoted. Scientia potentia est, MonarchOfTerror 17:32, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- This article has been deleted at AfD, therefore the nomination fails.--Launchballer 11:16, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

ongoing boycott
[edit]unless there are reliable secondary sources stating this boycott is ongoing, it isn't.
I have restored the sourced version, removing the added word, "ongoing", as i can't find this claim anywhere considered reliable.
