The result of the move request was: not moved. No support to move the article, and agreement the current title constitutes the WP:COMMONNAME. (non-admin closure) SportingFlyer T·C 08:23, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
Lizbeth Ovalle → Jacqueline Ovalle – Discussion started on behalf of Rey1996ss, who argues that article title should be Jacqueline Ovalle per WP:COMMONNAME and has made edits to this effect in multiple articles. Seany91 (talk) 22:15, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Rey1996ss: I saw that after our discussion you attempted to request a move at WT:Article titles, which got removed since that was the wrong place for it. Here I started the discussion in the right place on your behalf, and you can provide sources that support your case here. Seany91 (talk) 22:19, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
- The name of the wikipedia article isn't the point. I tried to apply for permission to post this code:
- Jacqueline Ovalle (Common name & FIFA display-Official name)----->.
- Why? -Because in the football world (FIFA) she is recognized and register by: Jacqueline Ovalle (it's her FIFA display/Common name and official as well, and her shirt is: J. Ovalle).
- Reference 1: U-17 Women's World Cup 2016-Squad List
- Reference 2: U-20 Womne's Wolrd Cup 2018-Squad List
- Refrence 3: 2020 Women's Olympic Qualifying
- Reference 4: [Jacqueline Ovalle (MEX) Goal of the Tournament
- Reference 5: Jacqueline OVALLE - GOAL OF THE TOURNAMENT Nominee in 2018.
- I just tried to get a permission to edit in: National Team. (Curent squad section)
- Similar to what is used in matches:[[]] Marta (footballer) is the Article, but you can write: Marta.
- The permision is for uses Lizbeth Ovalle (same Wiki article) but writing this code Jacqueline Ovalle (recognized and register at Mexican Football Federation-FMF). Rey1996ss (talk) 01:37, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- We keep having the same discussion in multiple places: WP policy is to use common name for article title and in-text mentions. As GiantSnowman wrote below, when it's a biography article and the subject has clearly indicated a preferred name, that usually trumps all others. You're certainly welcome to find sources to demonstrate otherwise and include them below for discussion, but everything you've said and linked so far only says that Jacqueline is the official name, which is not so important to consider here. - Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. GiantSnowman 11:42, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose yes FIFA uses 'Jacqueline' (1, 2), but the player herself uses 'Lizbeth' (Instagram, Twitter), as does her club. GiantSnowman 11:45, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
- Twitter is not official register by FIFA. At this day she can modificat as "Butterfly Ova" then you will uses Butty Ova? Noooo, You need use the oficial FIFA register and Mexican Federation Official register. Rey1996ss (talk) 18:16, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose as per GS, both names are used, but she uses Lizbeth, so we should too. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:04, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose - I agree the article title should stay as it is per above, per WP:COMMONNAME. A better known example: Diogo Jota was named as "Diogo Jose Teixeira da Silva" but calls himself on his Twitter as "Diogo Jota" so this article should stay as it is as GS pointed out. - You cannot use an example from Portugal, because in Portuguese onomastics you can use a nick like "Andresinha" but in Mexican onomastics it is different. In Mexico we can use "Chicharito " but officially was registered as Javier Hernández. So, you can write Lizbeth but officially was registered as Jacqueline OVALLE since 2016. Rey1996ss (talk) 18:13, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Agree There are many references above.--Rey1996ss (talk) 18:22, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
