Livingston High School language courses

[edit]

For many years, Livingston High School has taught English writing and literature, and English as a Second Language. The high school has also given course credit for French (as a foreign language), and Spanish (as a foreign language). A Punjabi for Punjabi Speakers class has been proposed. (If the Punjabi class has been approved), it will be offered starting in the 2006-2007 school year. The Punjabi class was submitted for school board approval at the January 25, 2006 board meeting.

Former land uses

[edit]

During the 1980s, Joe Gallo had far more land in vineyards than the rest of the Gallo family combined. Starting in the late 1980s, and continuing through the 1990s, he removed his vines, and put in feed crops for his dairy. According to his company website, "Grape growing took on a diminishing role in the company’s vertically integrated business plan and was discontinued in 2001." -- Jasper 16:11, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A few starting points for adding to the article

[edit]
  • City-Data.com's detailed profile -- has many plausible statistics, along with some dubious statistics (like percentage of the population of Portuguese ancestry), and some statistics that are easy to misinterpret (like mean afternoon humidity in January). Unfortunately, it does not cite its sources, so any data would require work to verify.

Re assessed

[edit]

This article is really a stub with lists added. I have been generous and awarded it "start" status. It falls well short of B since:

  • It is not useful to the all readers, because it lacks information entirely on infrastructure, transportation, geography (aside from some ag data), hydrology, geology and flora/fauna etc.
  • It has no line note references.
  • It really should have a cleanup tag to make some text out of rambling lists
