The Prefect System

[edit]

To whom it may concern, I have no relationship at all with this school and am patrolling it for vandalism (which occurs quite a lot.) The Prefect System paragraph has been removed at least twice with no explanation. If someone feels that this is because it is irrelevant or not factual please discuss it here. Thanks.Mmoneypenny 08:44, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And still not a single reference almost 9 years later. Removed. Keri (talk) 13:02, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

hmm

[edit]

"The school is famous for its dinner time 'Scripture Union' whereby religious figureheads may visit the school. The Scripture Union is an esteemed club led by Mr. Singer and once featured the stories of Bill Maynard, Mr Claude Greengrass himself." Is it REALLY famous for its Scripture Union ? Also - 'religious figureheads' ? - An ex-pupil — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.244.96 (talkcontribs) 15:19, 4 May 2007

NPOV?

[edit]

"It appears that the church of england's plan to subsume, and destroy, this fine old school has succeeded, as according to a teacher speaking to a class, containing my son, this afternoon (June 25th 2007), the Headmaster, Sandy Tittershill, has, in an unprecedented manner and with almost no notice, resigned with effect from the end of the current school year." This newly added paragraph hardly counts as neutral point of view - what evidence is there that the Church of England has a plan to subsume or destroy the school? The Diocese of Liverpool believes that the school's status (from its foundation) is that of a Church of England school and that it should have been so designated. See discussion below. Tricentinary Appeal

[edit]

"At the start of the Autumn term the total stands at £416,886, a remarkable sum after only a year of fundraising." Can it really be said to be remarkable? The school plans to make 1 million in two years so isn't actually on target thus far. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.130.121.149 (talk) 21:38, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The East Wing

[edit]

"The fine facilities <snip> are all available for hire, including weddings and services as of July 2006. Further details can be found on the School's website - please see the link below." Shouldn't this blatant commercial be removed from the article? At the very least is seems the tackiest line in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.162.129.1 (talk) 15:01, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Church of England??

[edit]

Since when has the school been changed to C of E? Aren't they still considering its status? It was certainly non-denom last time I looked. Organic Cabbage (talk) 20:39, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

School crest or school photo

[edit]

According to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines it says you should have the schools' logo/crest. Does anyone have any objections to changing the image in the infobox to the school crest? Tsange (talk) 20:54, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notable alumni

[edit]

If you read through the list of 'notable alumini' without any description of why they're 'notable' would you recognize any of them? I didn't, and I consider myself a fairly well-read person. It's a bit sad. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.139.179.203 (talk) 12:38, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No offence to Mitch Benn intended here (you were funny at school Mitch, and you're still funny now) but is this the best the school has to offer after over three hundred years of existence??? Comparison with Quarry Bank (now Calderstones school) makes this list seem a bit thin to say the least. from an ex pupil78.151.189.8 (talk) 12:27, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that Philip Clarke - boss of Tesco (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Clarke_(Tesco)) could qualify as a "notable" ex-pupil
