vocal credits

[edit]

Hey MrFizyx, I'm confused about the alleged CD backing vocal credits that you have restored after I deleted them based upon the liner notes on the original vinyl. What does the CD say -- exactly -- that leads you to include those credits? They do not make sense to me. Thanks. Cloonmore 02:12, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I don't have the disc on hand any longer (also borrowed from the library I'm afraid--I could try to get it again). As I recall the CD notes were damn confusing, it was hard to decipher which credits belonged to the Live Shots album and which belonged to Texas Special. Somehow Lloyd Maines name was left out entirely except for a caption on a photo that showed him playing on the tour (Maines was listed on the sleve for the vinyl that I ran across in used record store). I do recall, however, a list of guest vocalists that included among others, The Clash (without naming them individually). I would have been refering to this directly while writing the article. -MrFizyx 17:15, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I figured it might be confusing if they did what often happens w/CDs: reproducing the album sleeve liner notes at 1/5 the size. The liner notes on the inner sleeve of the original vinyl are handwritten and small. Here's what they say, in relevant part: "SPECIAL THANKS TO: The Clash, Joe, Mick, Paul & Topper; Carlene Carter, additional vocals; Micky Gallagher & Reese Wynans, Keyboards; ..." FYI, "Joe, Mick, Paul & Topper" ARE the Clash. That's why this entry's separate credits for "the Clash," "Paul and Topper" and the mysterious "Joe Mick" strike me as plainly wrong. Only Carlene Carter is actually credited with backing vocals. Methinks a revision is in order.Cloonmore 01:56, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Doh! I don't know why it didn't occur to me that those were the members of the clash. Also, I don't know if it was my error or the error or whoever created the cd liner notes (it was new text not just a small reproduction). In any case, I'm going to assume what you've written above is more correct. -MrFizyx 19:52, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
