Correct Photo

[edit]

The photo used for the entry on Little Wolf (Cheyenne Leader)is not correct. Little Wolf was born in 1820 and died in 1904. The caption on this picture reads he was born in 1868. This is a picture of a man called Laban Little Wolf who was born on the Red Cloud Agency which was in Nebraska at that time. Little Wolf is a name that is used a lot. I would like to have the picture deleted. Mwanner | Talk 23:44, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the image, Image:LittleWolf_02.jpg, based on the following comment posted on the Help Desk
I deleted the photo of Laban Little Wolf again. Laban Little Wolf was the nephew of this famous chief. Little Wolf gave him his name and his warbonnet. There is a very known photo of the chief Little Wolf with chief Dull Knife. Little Wolf, with fur headdress and the cross, is standing, Dull Knife is sitting. Too, I input the Cheyenne name of Little Wolf and its more correct translation. Ahanatamao'o 18:43, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I uploaded correct photos of "Little Wolf". I hope this lays to rest arguments. Ivan Velikii 00:06, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Name and meaning

[edit]

Of course his name wasn't "Little Wolf", just like that in English; it must have been a transation from his language. Let's have that word here, along with an explicit statement of whether that word means, "Small Wolf" per se or "Coyote", a species which is so close to a wolf that it interbreeds with them and is basically just a small version of the Canis lupus.
