Request for Semi-Protection

Requirement of login to edit page

The edits by the non registered user (using a private IP address) reflect the same views as the Anti-Defamation League and their related web site. However no such “FBI listing” as proposed by the editor of the page exists in public record; if such a listing exists it is private to the FBI only.

The History of this tribe is un-debatable, and that is the intent of this article; I think it even elicits that there are tribal splits on the use of name and politics. If the un-named editor wishes to link the debated ADL web site report of what they believe, then that is ok, and in fact I will add the link myself (on reflection)… However the credibility of the ADL can be taken from their own web listing here at Wikipedia.

But, changing the names of the recognized tribal nations, that were in use at the time – and the court decisions about these recognized tribal nations and names is not appropriate and it is also not open to debate. If those court decisions were overturned then please link or post the case name and case law reference so that I can (and will) confirm it.

That some debate remains between these nations, and the United States should not be brought here. Without question the Pembina have a long standing fight with the United States pursuant to this treaty, which is also here on Wikipedia, and not open to much debate (as a copy can be requested from the Library of Congress and the United Nations). However, as already stated, this debate does not change the historical background of the nation, the names, and the court cases it is based from (and references).

As such, if there are factually based errors in this page; please link offsite references to these errors and they will be corrected. If you have a debate about these things, without any third party factual information then restrict your postings here to the talk page.

Lastly, since this form of edit was made, I am requesting that the page be protected from those non-registered users from editing (our nation has enough problems with the ADL and the police that subscribe to it) without taking anonymous attacks here. And this would force the use of ‘this’ talk page to resolve any differences.

I also request a mediator; CJLippert who has some background on Ojibwa nations, and can, in my opinion, provide an alternative dispute by someone knowlegable in the history, but without any true reliance on the outcome of any debatable issue presented.

Added ADL accusations to page, with ref links in an attempt to avoid changes to historical sections Charon9 16:46, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that negative battle of biased ideas here is not appropriate. I will take a look at what is out here, both from written records and from oral records exterior of the successors inherent of the Pembina Band and attempt to clean up both this article and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians article. However, unless this article is regularily subjectable to vandalism, putting on a semi-protection for edits would not be the Wikipedia way. If additional disputes becoms aired here, we may need to bring this and the other article to Wikipedia:Village pump or Wikipedia:Requests for comment and seek for constructive advice to have the two air their differences elsewhere. Removed ADL edits again; such opinions or other things of that nature are represented without comments and should remain that way, this is not a debate page it is a page of historical reference to the tribal nation / the fact that it is noted in the main body about the removal of that tribal leader is enough - if you want to debate these issues please create a Myspace type page and enter the link for the debate of such here but do not repost issues already dealt with. Updated tribal leadership changes to be current with mid 2006 changes. Charon9 16:05, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ownership

[edit]

Charon9, please go read Wikipedia:Ownership of articles. Gene Nygaard 11:51, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Read it, and afraid I don't get the point in relation to this article. I certainly don't claim ownership of it (the article) - it is an article that I created and keep an eye on is about as far as that goes.Charon9 18:06, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Additions RE: Delorme's Pembina

[edit]

The article that was at the fringe of NPOV and still needed work to further bring it to NPOV, is now lost even that thread of NPOV, though very well documented. As this article is supposed to be about the larger Little Shell Pembina Band (before their break-up into the current three successors inherent), it might be better to move the contents of the recent addition to in regards to the Delorme's Pembina Band be moved to its own article. However, even in its own article, please avoid "weasel words" as the recent addition is full of them. CJLippert (talk) 03:02, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good points. I think it would be advisable to make a clear section for the Pembina Nation Little Shell Band of North America, which is the Delorme faction. Perhaps this faction should receive its own entry? As they are a substantially different entity than the federally recognized Little Shell. The Pembina band are the ones involved in the activities listed in the article, as well as in selling tribal memberships to individuals such as illegal immigrants. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.220.130.136 (talk) 10:48, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. There should be a separate article. More sources need to be provided for the historic Little Shell Band of Chippewa Indians, as it is not clear what this article is supposed to be about and what are legitimate entries.Parkwells (talk) 16:55, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Correct redirect

[edit]

The Little Shell Pembina Band should not redirect to this page, as it is a separate band, without successor rights having been identified in RS. There appear to be three successor bands.Parkwells (talk) 17:23, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
