Grant from Charles II
I am puzzled by the end of the opening sentence of the Location section. This reads as follows:
- "a land grant that Charles II of England awarded to seven of his supporters in 1649 and renewed by an official patent in 1688."
In 1649, the year of his father's execution, Charles was abroad in exile and I am not at all certain he was in a position to be issuing land grants, although he was proclaimed king and it may possibly be right. By 1688, he had been dead for three years, and was certainly not in a position to renew the grant. I have none of the sources cited, but would suggest that the statements be checked. If I am right, a re-wording along the following lines could work: KJP1 (talk) 13:12, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

- KJP1, thank you so much for this comment, and I apologize in my belated response. Because this background is in a number of Hampshire County articles, I have begun making changes to the chronology and wording in the article for Valley View. Could you please take a moment to review this chronology and wording, and let me know if this will also work for the Literary Hall article. I appreciate your attention to this detail. -- West Virginian (talk) 14:03, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
- West Virginian, No apology necessary. Real life does have an irritating habit of slowing down one's Wikipedia contributions. I think the re-wording for Valley View works very well there and would work equally well here. All the very best. KJP1 (talk) 18:05, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
- KJP1, thank you for your re-review! I am going to incorporate these changes and will reach out for further guidance if necessary. I appreciate you taking the time to notify me of this issue, and to assist me in mitigating it. -- West Virginian (talk) 23:17, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
