Contested deletion

[edit]

Man, give me time to complete this. This was put on speedy deletion (for which reason?!) in 10 minutes. Earlier it was all merged into the 801 band article and it looked like a COMPLETE mess --Zappafripp (talk) 23:18, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I explained the reason for the tag on your talk page. Please click here to read the statement. The article, as it stands, in no way shows why the subject of the article meets our notability guidelines or our musician guidelines. Believe me, we get 1,000 people putting their own bands on the site every day. If we weren't quick to act then we would be swamped. You can use you user space to write and test article. Then cut-and-paste them across when they're good to go. But make sure you read WP:N, WP:V and WP:RS first. Thanks. Fly by Night (talk) 23:31, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Look, I updated the page a little bit. Notable musicians play on this record, including Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera, so it's not a band put out by someone, and I'm no Phil Manzanera or Brian Eno either. The album is also rated high in the allmusic guide. I think the article is better now and is quite a notable album, in fact --Zappafripp (talk) 23:35, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Notability is not inherited, see notability is inherited section of the arguments to avoid in deletion discussions article. I've removed the deletion template because I can see you're making and effort and that you mean well. But please read WP:MUSICBIO. That will tell you what an article should have. Then add some sources to prove it. If you have any idea, but you don't know how then drop me a line on my talk page and I'll be happy to help. Fly by Night (talk) 23:49, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I did probably wrong by publishing the article when I was at 15% of it. In any case, thanks for your help --Zappafripp (talk) 16:05, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
