[edit]I have created a list showing the history of world records in speed skating, but I don't know what to call those, partially because the name of the article would be long. Something like Historical list of speed skating records on the 10,000 m for men. Any suggestions on how to name those articles? wjmt 17:53, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- Athletics uses World record progression pole vault men and similar. Something like that? World record progression 10 000 meters speed skating men? Sam Vimes | Address me 20:37, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you. I've created World record progression 10,000 m speed skating men. All the other "progressions" will follow soon. wjmt 02:18, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Olympic record 5000 men
[edit]I thought Jochem Uytdehaage was the Olympic record holder with a time of 6.14.66 (Salt Lake City, 9th of Febr. 2002). Chad Hedrick's time at the Olympic Games in Turin 2006 was 6.14.68, so he was 0.02 seconds slower than Uytdehaage's time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.94.203.178 (talk) 13:11, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
World Record Speeds
[edit]As a national-level speed skater, I can tell you the speeds listed in the world records section (ex. for the 500, 87.3 mph (140.5 km/h)) are not even remotely close to accurate, or even possible. They also are not sourced, and the link at the bottom of the page goes to a location that no longer exists. I'll take a look at it when I have time. Average SpeedTeam Pursuit
[edit]The average speed for the team pursuit is incorrect. They skate 8 laps, but because they skate only in the inner lane at the team pursuit, 8 laps is not 8*400=3200m. Helly (talk) 12:56, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Olympic Record 500m Men
[edit]From the data on the page currently, 500m in 34.42s is 52.30 km/h, not 52.37 km/h -- unless the latter is what was recorded at the event. Some clarification is required. Jarod (talk) 14:27, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

New Ladies WR 2x500m
[edit]I wonder about the new WR record by Nao Kodaira because she recorded on two different days. Thought it has to be at the same day. Anybody who knows the rules? Montell 74 (talk) 10:05, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

100m
[edit]I see that inline skaters compete in 100m dashes but long track skaters do not have major events that contest this distance. Why? If they had such an event, it would be my favorite winter olympic event.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:32, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
Short track
[edit]Why doesn't short track have a team pursuit event?--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:34, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
