[edit]I have created three templates:
- Template:List of English Whisky Distilleries by region
- Template:List of English whisky distilleries in the EWG
- Draft:List of independent English whisky distilleries
I wanted templates to auto display the relevant list and make editing and updating easier. I cannot however get them to display, please can you help me. ChefBear01 (talk) 16:55, 23 November 2023 (UTC)

[edit]@FeRDNYC:, could you please fix the tables as recent edits have put the some information into the wrong columns.ChefBear01 (talk) 20:20, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- @ChefBear01
could you please fix the tables
Not... easily. Closing unclosed table markup is a simple and unambiguous matter. (I parachuted in responding to an HTML linter error, triggered when it was detected that the page contained a<table>
tag without a corresponding</table>
.) - But when table rows have cells shifted to the left because they're missing column data, the question becomes: What information should the missed cells contain? I know absolutely nothing about British booze companies and wouldn't have the first clue how to determine that.
- IMHO you'd be within your rights to just revert the article to your last revision before the markup got scrambled, since all of the edits that followed just resulted in different forms (and levels) of brokenness. @EnglishWhisky2024 is a brand-new editor who I'm sure meant well, but good-faith edits that don't result in usable content are ultimately still unproductive. Incomplete changes don't have any mandate to be preserved. And when dealing with wikicode, tables in particular, when things go sideways it's often simpler to back out, reset, and start fresh with a second attempt, rather than wildly flailing around trying to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.
