Age of the Sturlungs
[edit]The Age of the Sturlungs should be included in this list as it is a fundamental part of the Icelandic military history.--Byblios (talk) 18:11, 12 July 2012 (UTC)Byblios
I agree. The list doesn't say anything about purely covering 20th century conflicts, so I think we should definitely include the wars from earlier eras as well (even though the main article on the military history of Iceland does a good job as well). --ZemplinTemplar (talk) 15:11, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Libyan intervention
[edit]Should the Libyan intervention be added? If so, why? Iceland did not, as far as I know, participate, except indirectly through NATO membership. Iceland is not listed as a belligerent on the Libyan Civil War page. If all NATO interventions count, wouldn't this page just be a list of humanitarian interventions (of which Iceland put no troops) and peacekeeping missions? - No, it doesn't make sense in my opinion. Stefán Örvar Sigmundsson (talk) 22:56, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
Invasion of Iceland (WWII)
[edit]I see that people have reverted changes about the Invasion of Iceland. I would like to know why it is not considered a war (armed military invasion and occupation), when the reformation and the cod wars are? 89.17.132.215 (talk) 12:56, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
20th Century section should be removed
[edit]Iceland did not fight a single war during the 20th century. Looking at the entries, none of them count or make sense. (1) Iceland in World War I Result: Iceland stays neutral. There's no point of writing that if Iceland didn't take part. Just like we don't write China didn't take part in the American Revolutionary War, because they didn't and there's no need to write so. Same for Iceland in World War II. (3) Occupation of Iceland. This was not a war between the UK and Iceland and it definitely was not an Icelandic defeat. And finally the Cod Wars are not real wars. There have been fishing disputes between hundreds of other countries and if you check their "List of wars involving" articles, none of the fishing disputes are listed. I am deleting the 20th century section. Progenitor Eri (talk) 21:02, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
