Should we include Mt Vesuvius?

nabro at 31?

[edit]

Nabro is listed as having 31 dead - it might be 7, 31 or 38 or another number depending on whether the irin reference is correct - the Ethiopian government said it was not endorsing it, and that they would assess it themselves (nothing has since been forthcoming). Eritrea reported 7 dead ("Volcanic Eruption in Southern Red Sea Region creates new landmass". 21 June 2011. ), it is unclear whether the 31 dead reported in the irin reference included those 7 or not (and given the contested border it seems likely that the Eritrean casualties need to be added to the Ethiopean ones).

death toll vesuvius

[edit]

The source does not give the 13 000 figure https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/dec/31/new-discoveries-at-pompeii-come-amid-renaissance-at-site gives a 2000 estimate for numbers thought to be in Pompei, which is different from the source that claims 2000 have been found and different from the wikiepdia article that says 1400 have been found. AGAIN these are conflating estimates with numbers found and pompei and the whole area affected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.249.7.24 (talk) 14:29, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

White Island eruption

[edit]

How about the White Island eruption (Dec 9 2019)? As of now five people are dead. Dorah the Axe-plorer (talk) 13:52, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Looked like someone added it. Ckruschke (talk) 19:41, 11 December 2019 (UTC)Ckruschke[reply]

Santorini eruption

[edit]

The source for the death toll of ~20000 isn't very solid - it's not an academic source and the webpage has no citation or source given for where that number came from. There were no bodies found at Thera, and I was under the impression many historians thought there may have been an evacuation. I don't have a source on that but I can try and find one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.142.126.219 (talk) 08:13, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
