Country Code: IS (Iceland) in Africa

Country code "IS" is Iceland, however this was listed under Africa/Abidjan Is there any reasoning behind this? If valid, please revert my change. 185.17.174.229 (talk) 15:22, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Undone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.17.174.229 (talk) 15:31, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Is there any reasoning behind this? At some point, the tzdb maintainer, Paul Eggert, removed, from the default configuration, a lot of tzdb regions that had the same time history following 1970, as the database only attempts to guarantee correct information for 1970 and afterwards (prior to that, it can be difficult to find reliable data, so no guarantees are offered).
This included combining a bunch of regions into one, and Abidjan was, I think, the most populated "named city" of those regions.
(There is no guarantee that a tzdb region is contiguous or contained solely within one country.) Guy Harris (talk) 23:47, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

There was a duplicate entry for Africa/Asmara

Is Africa/Asmera a typo or is there's a grammatical switch somewhere? Africa/Asmera should be Africa/Asmara and so I've removed the duplicate and incorrect spelt entry from the table. Feel free to revert. I guess it's an "official" typo? 185.17.174.229 (talk) 15:22, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

I guess it's an "official" typo? It's official, in that there are both Africa/Asmara and Africa/Asmera links to Africa/Nairobi. (Asmara lists both names in the lede.)
This page reflects the tzdb's contents, even if they aren't what people might expect to be the case.
(They're links to Africa/Nairobi for the same reason that Atlantic/Reykjavik is a link to Africa/Abidjan; see my answer in the previous section. Editors who think that "something is wrong on the Internet" on this page shuld first read Theory and pragmatics of the `tz` code and data and then check the source files in the latest release.) The America/Kentucky/Monticello entry is incorrect

The offsets and time zone columns of America/Kentucky/Monticello are incorrect.

The time zone should be CST/CDT, and the offsets -6:00 / -5:00

Nope, the entry in the tzdb northamerica file, in the 2023c release, for that tzdb region is
