To keep this article from becoming a link farm. Groups in the 'Higher Education' section must have at least 15 people working directly in the field of Tribology. Yes, 15 people is arbitrary, and may be increased or decreased at a later date to keep this list manageable and useful.Gregzore (talk) 07:18, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The main purpose of this page is to collect the external links from tribology related pages into one place... call it putting all the clutter in one place so that it can be easily removed if it needs to be, and so that it isn't everywhere else.Gregzore (talk) 10:24, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As a fan note, here are errata links for the Purdue University entry.

https://engineering.purdue.edu/METL/ is a big lab, which seems to have a long pedigree.

https://engineering.purdue.edu/Engr/Research/LabsFacilities/CMPT/ seems to have been founded either in 1992 or 1999. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Olleolleolle (talkcontribs) 08:17, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My two cents: Tribology is a small yet important field. I like the list of Tribology organizations as it exists because it does exactly what I find is the most valuable raison d'etre of wikipedia: to provide links to information and resources that a novice would not have otherwise found alone. If it were entirely up to me, I would add Tribology labs to the list that are MUCH smaller than the 50 mentioned on the ["nomination for deletion" page] and the 15 mentioned above. Because it is a highly specialized field, some research groups consist of less than half a dozen people. Yet, tribology is at work all day, every day in everything, including whether or not the threads of your clothing hold together and do not spontaneously unravel, leaving you naked.

BTW, someone has to make the official lists. At ASME, I am one of those someones so saying, as is mentioned on the ["nomination for deletion" page], that an official ASME list is needed before posting an article such as this is circular. CHeshmat (talk) 19:56, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
