This is a Fork and should be deleted

[edit]

This is a FORK of List of armed conflicts and attacks, January – June 2011. Wikipedia policy is there should be one page on each topic. --filceolaire (talk) 19:15, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Honey its the other way around. Asdgdsgdgad (talk) 13:12, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This page is not Neutral and should be deleted or renamed.

[edit]

When an act is labelled "Terrorism" it is almost always done to criticise and attack the perpetrators of that act. Including an act in a page called "List of terrorist incidents" just because some non-neutral source called it that would mean Wikipedia agrees with that source. I suppose we could rename this page "List of accusations of terrorism" or something similar but we would have to add a column to record exactly who called the incident terrorism.--filceolaire (talk) 19:15, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Note that if we come up with our own Neutral definition of "Terrorism" that will be WP:Original research - also not allowed on Wikipedia.--filceolaire (talk) 19:15, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

By excluding state actions this page gives WP:UNDUE attention to acts by non-state actors.

[edit]

For many of these incidents there are related actions by state supported groups. By excluding those actions the list is unbalanced. State actions should be included.--filceolaire (talk) 19:15, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not terrorism

[edit]

I've checked some of the references. Not one of the references I checked called the incident terrorism. All these can be deleted under the current criteria for this page.--filceolaire (talk) 18:09, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Revision 465350294

[edit]

It seems there is clearly some unaddressed debate about the page in question. Firstly, merging this page with the List of armed conflicts and attacks, January – June 2011 would also require every page from 1970 to present to change; a job which would be highly messy. Secondly, it seems that the main dispute here is the definition/interpretation of the word "terrorism".

I would like to point out that even on the wikipedia entry for Terrorism it states, "In the international community, however, terrorism has no universally agreed, legally binding, criminal law definition. Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for a religious, political or, ideological goal; and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (civilians). Some definitions now include acts of unlawful violence and war."

Clearly this page is dedicated to listing attacks that are not aligned to any particular war or state sponsored terrorism as the list above includes, irrespective of whether the news sources here explicitly cited these as acts of terrorism.

filceolaire had an idea of renaming the page, which would be more appropriate than merging this page with the list above, especially as this page is trying to list terrorist attacks that are not considered state terrorism or state sponsored terrorism, rather than combining both (which, as you can see, requires to be broken down to two pages to cover 2011). Maybe renaming the page to "List of non-state sponsored terrorist incidents" would be more appropriate? Eug.galeotti (talk) 00:33, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Still not NPOV. It would have to be something like List of accusations of terrorism.--filceolaire (talk) 21:28, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto per Filceolaire. earlier in the year a LONG discussion resulted in th\e move, and there is nothing to restore this until discussed. it is cleary POV as he says.
Furthermore we dont have to move all past pages per WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS...but a bot CAN do it.
And this silly excuse doesnt justify keeping POV editgs because of a lazy effort not to move it. WP is NPOV, NOT easy social media postings. (Lihaas (talk) 00:18, 28 December 2011 (UTC)).[reply]
