Gradients at runaways

Because railway wheels have low rolling resistance, even less so with roller bearing, they can roll down quite gentle gradients, such as 1 in 70.2 at Armagh rail disaster. More examples please. Tabletop (talk) 04:58, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Missing grade

Arosabahn (Arosaline/Chur-Arosa Railway)

I believe the Arosabahn has a 6% gradient and is a simple adhesion railway. Should it be added to this list? Hugtrain (talk) 15:33, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agree :-) Date = 1910; mention Rockfall shelter such as Otford Steel Tunnel. 6% = 1 in 16.67.
