Venues that need to be added by someone
[edit]Is there any reason why Skilled Park (aka Robina Stadium) on the Gold Coast has been omitted?222.152.26.159 (talk) 04:40, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Add the Joondalup Arena in Perth as well https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arena_Joondalup
Re-organisation
[edit]I propose the following changes:
- All tables be merged into one
- If the same entry is listed twice, merge the rows
- An extra column added for "shape" or "type" (eg. oval/rectangular)
- The location be split into "city" and "state"
- Set the table as "sortable"
- Font size reduced to 90%
- The "tenants" column be formatted to group teams by sport and use abbreviated names
This will allow the table to be sorted by capacity, state, shape, as the user prefers - like this:
Stadium | City | State | Shape | Capacity | Tenants |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Melbourne Cricket Ground | Melbourne | Vic | oval | 100,000 | Australian rules football: Richmond, Essendon, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Melbourne Cricket: Australia, Victoria |
Sydney Cricket Ground | Sydney | NSW | oval | 44,002 | Australian rules football: Sydney Cricket:, Australia, New South Wales |
Aussie Stadium | Sydney | NSW | rectangular | 45,500 | Rugby league: Roosters Football (soccer): Sydney FC |
Suncorp Stadium | Brisbane | Qld | rectangular | 52,500 | Rugby league: Brisbane Football (soccer): Queensland |
It will also make the page more useful than the existing "Sports venues in Australia" category and its sub-categories - if it didn't, there wouldn't be any justification in having the list article. -- Chuq 08:33, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- No complaints - so I'm working on this now - if it looks odd/unfinished please be aware it is in the process of conversion! -- Chuq (talk) 03:43, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, all done. Changes I have made (apart from the above list):
- Remove IRB Sevens World Series (one off event)
- Remove Subiaco and MCG from RU national team (AFAIK TDome, TStadium and Suncorp are regular)
- Add A-League teams
- Add ARC teams
- Add national team venues for football (soccer) - MCG and TStadium
- Add national team venues for cricket - six state capital venues
- Changes still to be made:
- Link all city and state names - since the table is sortable "linking only the first occurrence" won't really work
- Add Rugby League State of Origin
- Manually arrange the rows to some default sort order (probably alphabetically or by capacity)
- maybe add direct Austadiums link to each row
- Any more suggestions? -- Chuq (talk) 04:54, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Tracks
[edit]Are there any large horse or dog racetracks in Australia? If so, shouldn't they be in this article? How about auto race tracks, or are those only in the US? AnteaterZot 06:20, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Removal of ARC Stadia
[edit]Seeing as the ARC is now defunct, I think we should remove all ARC teams and their stadiums (if they are sole tenants) because they no longer play at the highest domestic level.Morstar (talk) 13:45, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Stadiums or Venues?
[edit]Any reason why this articles claims to be a list of venues but only lists stadiums? Is this indicate of some sort of pro-football bias to the article? --Falcadore (talk) 07:49, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
- It's a bit of a joke really, isn't it? I think it's especially cute how they've listed Australian national teams as a "tenant".--Gibson Flying V (talk) 02:13, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- Maybe I should nominate it for AfD then?
- Any opinions as to how non-stadium venues should be indicated? --Falcadore (talk) 05:31, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
