Somehow the list has been removed! Something has gone awry here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pancu56 (talk • contribs) 14:26, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
List improvement
[edit]While I realise that lists are polemic, given the notability of Berlin's output, I think a comprehensive list is in order. I'm in two minds as to its structure however: would it be better in chronological or in alphabetical order? I've posted it for other editors to add their considered opinions and make necessary improvements. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 08:58, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Another issue here, as always at Wikipedia, is references. Material that is likely to be challenged (as in lesser-known songs, for instance) will need verifiable references. (I'm seriously thinking of starting a summer campaign to ensure that any reference posted on Wikipedia is immediately verifiable or cannot to be accepted. Something like 90% of the references I try to check up on lead to duds of various kinds. Isn't there a bot that can do something? Is there a reference watch group out there?). Sorry, rambling again. Regards, --Technopat (talk) 07:57, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
I just added "Oh, How I Hate To Get Up In The Morning". Lyrics are here and that site's FAQ says: May I use your lyric text files? Yes. All lyrics posted here are fully in the Public Domain, and do not need any permission for use. There are no restrictions on their use. (etc). I don't know how reputable/reliable the site is, but it looks good. (BTW, being a life-long night owl, I remember the lyrics at our house as: "We can't get'er up, we can't get'er up, we can't get'er up this morning. We can't get'er up, we can't get'er up, we can't get'er up today!" :-) --Hordaland (talk) 11:26, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
IP 75.89.47.159 has added songs from the musical Good News (musical) to this article. I find no source that shows that Berlin wrote either music or lyrics for any song in that show. I am therefore deleting all songs added by the IP, and requesting sources from the IP.JeanColumbia (talk) 16:00, 15 February 2009 (UTC) To add, I see that the IP has actually deleted well-known and referenced Berlin songs, such as "The Girl That I Marry". Article states, " New York Public Library, which contains a catalogue of 550 non-commercial recordings..." Only 550? That's not a lot. Is this suppose to be 550 of Berlin's recordings?
More resources for song titles
[edit]John Hopkins Univ. has a library section called the Levy Collection which lists many more of Irving Berlin's compositions if you are interested in adding to the list.Jbgneg (talk) 18:55, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
merge
[edit]support the long proposed merge of List of Irving Berlin songs (chronological) into this article. The "chronological" list isnt even chronological, just "vaguely chronological" -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 02:57, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
- Better yet, convert this list to a sortable table, so it can support both orders. Ibadibam (talk) 21:51, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
- I support the merge. Meanwhile, I have converted this list into a sortable table. The merge will be very time-consuming, especially if a year is used for each song, instead of a range of years (and that goes double if the list is enlarged to include all songs he has written). But it seems like a worthwhile project.Anythingyouwant (talk) 23:58, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- I went ahead and started the merge. Will finish later today.Anythingyouwant (talk) 17:15, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- Done.Anythingyouwant (talk) 20:07, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oops, it appers that the correct date range for many of these songs is in the row for the following song. I will fix.Anythingyouwant (talk) 20:30, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, I think the merge is properly done now.Anythingyouwant (talk) 21:59, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Oh How I Hate to Get Up...
[edit]Just removed Ted Snyder as author of music to song. Could find no corroboration and checked front page of sheet music, readily visible online. Please provide corroboration if reverting. Tapered (talk) 07:16, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
