The word cannabis means the same thing as the word hemp. Both refer to the whole plant, and all variety of uses for the plant. The word cannabis is slang when it's used to mean marijuana or 'the dried leaves and flowers of cannabis used as a drug.' So it depends how the word is applied. Referring to the plant from which marijuana is harvested, the technical term cannabis is correct. But referring to marijuana, the drug, as hemp, or cannabis, invokes a slang use of those names. - The Hammer of Thor (talk) 23:08, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
