I reckon that the Deputy Leaders might be useful. The problem is that the position has fluctuating importance: Whitelaw under Thatcher, Hattersley under Kinnock, and Prescott were all recognised as the leader's no.2 and given prominence - and it is significant that George Brown, Margaret Beckett and Harriet Harman led the party pro tempore - but the deputy has not always had this significance. Douglas-Home/Heath handover

[edit]

When Heath was elected Conservative leader in 1965, he was already Shadow Chancellor, and Maudling was already Shadow Foreign Sec. Heath's first team was Macleod, Soames, Thorneycroft. Something has gone wrong with the alignment, which I shall adjust. BartBassist (talk) 18:28, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lyn Brown

[edit]

Should Lyn Brown's brief period as acting Shadow Home Secretary in 2017 (just prior to the election) during Dianne Abbott's absence for health reasons be noted here? Dunarc (talk) 23:51, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
