From the articles of these two Senators, it seems that Withers filled the casual vacancy of deceased Shane Paltridge in January 1966, then lost in the special election in November that year to Laurie Wilkinson. Then in 1968, Withers was re-elected to the Senate and knocking Dorothy Tangney out of the Senate.
The table currently reads that Wilkinson succeeded Tangney, but this is not the case. Should the column of Withers (second stint as Senate) be swapped with Wilkinson, so that it reads Wilkinson succeeding Withers (1), then Withers (2) succeeding Tangney.

- Yes, I think you're right, good spot: Withers was appointed by the WA governor to fill the Paltridge vacancy but this was not confirmed by the WA parliament in time, and a special election was held which Withers lost, so Wilkinson succeeded Withers. Withers was elected at the 1967 Australian Senate election, at which Tangney was defeated so Withers replaces her. The infobox for Withers should have the Predecessor = Shane Paltridge moved to the 1966 term instead of the 1968–87 term. --Canley (talk) 06:44, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
