Should this page be divided up by borough level rather than the somewhat arbitrary which town is closest ? Pickle 02:48, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A purpose of this list is to prevent lists of schools being included in Kent town articles. Maybe just the villages could be grouped by borough?. Epbr123 08:41, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I ask is because my primary school, Tunbury, is in the Medway list, yet technically is in Kent as part of Medway it is in, is in Tonbridge and Malling BC rather than Medway UA. Pickle 12:03, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved the Medway towns into the Mid Kent list so that it doesn't create confusion over which boroughs schools are in. Epbr123 15:44, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers ;) Pickle 16:17, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This is just more confusing, as links to the LEA cannot now be found and because of the mediaeval Eleven Plus System this affects selection procedures. Imperfect though it may be Local Government District is the system to use. Also Mid Kent had a precise meaning in the pre-Medway days that is not reflected here-- its all been tried before, and we have got what we have got! ClemRutter 11:24, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If someone's willing to reorganise the list, I don't mind. Epbr123 11:43, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see what effect a local government reorganisation has on this article. Medway is still part of Kent. Epbr123 (talk) 02:25, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alphabetical order?

[edit]

Would it not be better to put the places in alphabetical order? And not too many independent schools are included are they? Is it meant to just be the LEA schools?Peter Shearan (talk) 07:36, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A list of schools in Kent should include all schools, both public and private. They are listed alphabetically within the geographical areas defined by KCC and MUA, Regards, Lynbarn (talk) 19:14, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Seperate Section for East Malling

[edit]

I have noticed that schools in East Malling have been put under the West Malling section. This is rather misleading and should be corrected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.34.173.149 (talk) 18:06, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The two villages and those surrounding them are collectively administered as "Malling" by the Local Authiority for educational purposes, so all should come under the same heading. regards, Lynbarn (talk) 19:11, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aylesford covers too big an area

[edit]

I've noticed a few schools from Larkfield, Ditton and Eccles appear under the Aylesford section. Aylesford is a very small village and does not cover any other areas. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.34.173.149 (talk) 13:10, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not true: Aylesford village is the centre of a larger administrative area including the aforementioned villages. Regards, Lynbarn (talk) 18:58, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IT IS TRUE! ASK A LOCAL! Seriously, us Aylesfordians HATE it when people say our dear village, which was the first in the UK, covers Larkfield, Eccles and all of that other s**t. THOSE ARE SEPERATE VILLAGES. AND THAT'S FINAL.

94.168.95.164, can you confirm that you have also posted on this matter, both here and elsewhere, as 82.34.173.149 and also as cbbcfan? As we have previously discussed ad nauseum, Aylesford refers to the civil parish as well as the village. By your definition, Aylesford School - Sports College and Aylesford Primary school, both in Teapot lane, probably shouldn't be included either Please bear in mind the much wider audience. RE: Westlands Just thought I would ask, is there a reason that the link for Westlands (Sittingbourne) leads to a page on a school in Devon? Chubbaking (talk) 09:22, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorting

[edit]

As per ongoing discussions and the standard format used in all the other countywide lists of schools, I have done a large re-sorting edit on the page. Atlas-maker (talk) 09:57, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
