[edit]Very impressive work. I take it you won't be doing any maps! How was Middlesex divided? Warofdreams talk 17:42, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. Took bloody forever, and cost me an arm and a leg to get the references from TSO!
- Middlesex's final division is already documented at Middlesex. I'm not sure of the right format for a list of districts abolished prior to 1974 - it would certainly be a lot harder to research. Next project is Wales (and sorting out the 1974-1996 districts there - some still don't have articles, others need splitting), and then figuring out whatever Scotland had. I noticed this one listed in Cumberland. I just wondered whether this should acutally read Millom, after the town in Copeland? I've never heard of a 'Milton', and Millom doesnt really seem to be covered by any of the others. Robdurbar 22:03, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- Good spot. Morwen - Talk 15:41, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
I have created a seperate page for Penrith UDC in Cumberland and have changed the link on this page to go there instead of to Penrith itself but have noticed that no other UDCs seem to have their own pages. Have I done wrong in creating one? Penrithguy 23:21, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- There are a handful, but we've generally only made them when the territory they cover varied or had a complicated history, or where they covered significant named settlements other than the main one. Following this, I would merge it. Morwen - Talk 15:56, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- Fine, so should I just request that the articles be merged by an administrator as I dont know how to do this myself being fairly new to Wikipedia
- There is probably a guide on how to do it in the 'help' section (seeWikipedia:Merging and moving pages) but its quite simple. Just move any of the content that you want to keep into the 'Penrith' article. In the edit summary write 'merge from Penrith UDC'. Then replace all the conent in the Penrith UDC article with '#REDIRECTPenrith' and write 'Merge to Penrith' in the edit summary. Robdurbar 17:18, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
