  • Hauntings should be grouped by state and listed alphabetically
  • Discussions about what counts as a reliable source for this article: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. In summary:
    • Every entry needs to cite a source.
    • Websites like shadowlands.net, paranormal.org, hauntednorthamerica.net, etc. are generally not reliable sources for this article.
    • If a place has been featured on shows like Ghost Hunters or Ghost Adventures:
      • There should be additional sources cited besides the appearanace on the show.
      • The {{Cite episode}} template should be used to cite the particular episode of the show that featured the location.
    • Official government tourism websites are good sources
    • Published books with editorial oversight, newspapers, and tourism guides can be good sources for this article, however scrutinize each source and use them with care.
  • Entries on this page should be limited to locations that have their own Wikipedia article and should link to the appropriate article. See the manual of style. Entries that were previously added that did not link to a Wikipedia article on that location but did include a source have been moved here. See this archived discussion.

Lacking so many entries it shouldn't exist or should be expanded

[edit]

This article/page is kind of pointless because there are way more supposedly haunted places in all of the states. 99.97.141.22 (talk) 12:59, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@99.97.141.22: endorsing such haunted places is against WP:FRINGE policy. If you would look at the article history, the list had included more places before, but much of those entries were either lacking sources or poorly sourced (using unreliable sources like blogs and/or websites run by those places themselves. Virginia - Cold Harbor

[edit]

Cold Harbor Battlefield in Virginia is considered one of the most haunted places in the United States. I am part native American and when I went to school near there, at least 6 times a year some kid from that area asked me " My mom wants to know if you know anyone on the reservation who can do a spiritual house cleansing because we have a ghost " 173.53.115.23 (talk) 02:55, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
