Linda (Futurama) now redirects here (per merge template). All relevent material was already here.
The following characters should not be considered reoccuring:
[edit](note, I'm not saying the below listed are main characters, but they're far from the reoccuring level)
- Zapp Brannigan
- Kif Kroker
- Mom
- Nibbler
- Calculon
- Lrrr
- Professor Ogden Wernstrom
- Cubert Farnsworth
- Dwight Conrad
- LaBarbara Conrad
Those are the definites. If anyone wants to add any, be my guest. If these characters don't already have separate articles, then I suggest that they be given a chance at an informative article. Even Robot Santa could make the cut for his own article. Zapp, Kif, Mom, Nibbler, Lrrr and Wernstrom are also often important characters in an episode. -- A Link to the Past 09:22, July 23, 2005 (UTC)

- As Philip Stevens has mentioned below, Zapp Brannigan, Kif Kroker and Nibbler have pages of their own now so they probably should be removed from the list of recurring characters. - Ma.rkus.nl 00:49, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
Recurring should apply to only those charcters that make appearances (at least two) in episodes but add little or nothing to the overall plot (i.e. Sal, Hattie). All others should have their own pages.
- That's fine, but if you're going to remove characters like Mom and her sons from this article, go ahead and create their pages and links to them. Don't just make them disappear. BryanEkers 14:45, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Hyperchicken Merger
[edit]With the quotes and appearances it seems like too much information to put onto this page. I think having a seperate page like Kif Kroker etc. is fine. Diceman 14:00, 23 July 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, I don't think the quotes should be retained, and the episode list is iffy. When you take those away, there are only three paragraphs, which would fit in this article neatly. The Hyperchicken (and most of the other characters on this page) do not appear often enough or have enough information to write about to warrant a separate page. --Pagrashtak 15:29, 23 July 2005 (UTC)
Brain Slugs
[edit]Where the heck are the brain slugs? There is a link in the page of the episode im watching (Raging Bender) to a section of this page who talk about brain slugs and it seems that it doesnt exist--ometzit<col> 01:10, 30 January 2007 (UTC)--ometzit<col> 01:10, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- The page was recently split and some links which are hardwired here may still be incorrect. I'll go fix that one, in the meantime see List of recurring non-human, non-robot characters from Futurama and please change any further incidents like this you may run across. Thanks! Stardust8212 01:25, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
The Crack Addict
[edit]That guy is in at least 2 episodes. KyuuA4 06:05, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Note to anyone intending on splitting off a section
[edit]This page has been processed by N-Bot, which, for browsing convenience, changes links to redirects to lists to links to the relevant list sections: e.g. [[Cubert Farnsworth]] is changed to [[Recurring characters of Futurama#Cubert Farnsworth|Cubert Farnsworth]].
As a result, anyone who intends to split a section out of this page should be aware that, as of 5 September 2005, the following sections were linked to from the following pages:
- The Hypnotoad: List of fictional animals (other), List of fictional television shows
- Morbo: Synth pop, Maurice LaMarche, List of fictional television shows
- Cubert Farnsworth: Timeline of Futurama
- Calculon: Soap opera, Fictional elements, isotopes and atomic particles
- Lrrr: Futurama (TV series - season 2), Omicron Persei VIII, List of planets in Futurama

Repeted on other pages
[edit]As Zapp Brannigan, Kif Kroker and Nibbler have pages of their own should they be mentioned here? User:Philip Stevens 10:45, 15 October 2005.
Cubert Farnsworth
[edit]Any relation in name to Q*bert, or am I trying too hard? In retrospect, this is probably a dumb question, but there is this unbreakable connection between the two in my mind. D: --65.184.26.220 09:25, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- Nope, It's most probably a referance, why else would it be called cubert? Jackpot Den 18:40, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Tinny Tim
[edit]Shouldn't "Tinny Tim", the orphan child robot, be considered a recurring character? - Ma.rkus.nl 00:44, 3 January 2006 (UTC) Tinny tim should be on the robots page Jackpot Den 18:40, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Robots of Futurama
[edit]Would it be appropriate to take the robots mentioned here and make a new, more in depth list, focussing more on the various robots seen throughout the Futurama world? Although the robots are treated as practically human characters (exhibiting behaviour and seemingly free will), a separate list could look at the functioning of robots in the Futurama world (that is, they are designed to serve humans, but rarely do) Riff 15:19, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- On the other hand, robots are full Earthican citizens, complete with voting rights (not including felons). Shouldn't they be included in the same article as other characters? --24.241.230.126 23:45, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
Brainspawn
[edit]The Brainspawn do not warrent their own article. They only appear in two episodes. Although they do have an important role in the Futurama universe, I can't think of any justification for a two episode set of characters having their own article. Captain Jackson 20:27, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
I added their entry, boiled down to bare essentials (details are adequately covered in the episode summaries). I'll go redirect the Brainspawn's page to this one after watching Jeopardy!, unless somebody beats me to it. BryanEkers 00:18, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Father Changstein-El-Gamahl
[edit]In the Father Changstein-El-Gamahl section, the link about the church should go to Futurama#Relgion, but instead goes to Futurama. Captain Jackson 23:16, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Recurring?
[edit]I'm taking it that a character only needs to appear in one episode for more than a couple of minutes in order to qualify for this article. If that's the case, we need to add Alkazzar, the sewer mutants, Leela's parents, Slurm's McKensy, and a whole bunch of others. Captain Jackson 07:10, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
I added Sally the orphan who appeared in The Cyber House Rules. Someone expand her. I'm also going to add the Brain slugs. I've also added Nina and Albert, two other orphans.
Article becoming too long
[edit]I'm getting warnings about exceeding 30 kilobytes. The list may have to be divided up, perhaps alphabetically. I'd suggest that any character who has appeared five or more times (Zapp, Kiff, Nibbler, Mom) be given their own pages and removed from this one. If no-one objects, I'll take care of it in the next day or so, as well as alphabetize the remainder and set up two pages with, for example, characters A-M and N-Z. Slurms McKenzie was, as I recall, a one-shot. He can be discussed in detail on a page dedicated to Slurm specifically, or just within the episode summary for "Fry and the Slurm Factory" BryanEkers 07:17, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
As an additional thought, characters who are immediate relatives of one of the seven main characters should be moved to those entries, i.e. LaBarbra and Dwight go on Hermes' page, Leela's parents go on her page, Cubert can go with Farnsworth, the Wongs with Amy etc. Also, the Morbo and Linda entries should be combined, since they always appear together. BryanEkers 07:23, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- I support the idea for an article on Robotic recurring characters. In fact, I'll start it right now. Captain Jackson 04:09, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Excellent ideas here guys - keep up the good work! Ma.rkus.nl 21:25, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
- The article is still quite long. Wouldn't it be appropiate if it was divided into "Recurring human characters" and "Recurring alien characters"? Then we would be accounting for all three major demographic groups from Futurama, and the title of this article wouldn't be as problematic as it is. --Ace ETP 01:53, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- The Robot Devil still redirects here. Could anyone fix this? (I'd do it but I don't know how)Stardust8212 03:06, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Recurring characters or minor characters?
[edit]Some of these characters are not recurring, eg. Free Waterfall jnr. and Old Man Waterfall, who appear in one episode each. Might the page be better named "list of minor characters from Futurama"? RupertMillard 19:52, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- I completely agree, "recurring" implies, that they appear more than once. If somebody else agrees, we can move the page (once more). Mütze 15:12, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Moved page
[edit]I've moved the page to "List of recurring non-robot characters from Futurama" because that's what this list is now. Alphonze 04:57, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Hard Hat Warning guy
[edit]The arbitary character that appears on warning signs, on the news expressing emotions on the news, and on the last episode, on the emotion flashcards. Any need for an addition of him into here? Jackpot Den 18:40, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Conservation
[edit]I removed Mom and her sons because they have their own article and this page was getting too big
- It seems someone is adding them back again, should there perhaps be a note on this page somehow directing users to the appropriate pages for recurring characters who have been seperated from this article so they aren't constantly added back? I know it's not fun to get our changes summarily reverted so I hate having to do it to other people... Stardust8212 21:53, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Formatting
[edit]I would like to change the formatting on this page so that the table of contents appears more like this: One Piece minor characters which seems a lot nicer looking to me, however I am running into some issues with the way the pictures are set up. The problem is I need to remove the breaks between characters and that makes the pictures and text all sort of run together. If I don't hear from anyone in the next day or so who is against this change I may go ahead and do it (I don't want to waste my time if it will be immediately reverted) if you find that it looks strange from your end afterwards let me know, I'm still new to this sort of formatting change but I'll try to fix it. Stardust8212 23:08, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
While you're at it, try alphabetizing it, too. I suggest the Cookieville Orphans be given a single entry, with Sally, Nina and Albert (and any other named orphan) given a mention and photo. As it stands, the three paragraphs have a lot of overlap. BryanEkers 14:55, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea, I'll probably just use one picture for all three as well. Sounds like I'll go ahead and try it.
- Done, it looks good for the most part though a few pictures are still acting a little weird. It looks best on lower screen resolutions. let me know if anyone has suggestions on how to solve the floating pictures issue (see Fishy Joe's section) Stardust8212 17:22, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Good work on the alphabetizing, but going by last name would be better. Wernstrom shouldn't be under "P" for "Professor" and going by last name would let the members of the Waterfall clan appear together. BryanEkers 03:38, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, I considered doing so at the time but wasn't sure if that would make the page more or less easy to navigate, perhaps if I get a chance later I will redo it but put them in "phone book" format (i.e. Wernstrom; Professor Ogden)? Would that be good or bad? Stardust8212 13:38, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- I took care of it. If anyone doesn't like it... well, let 'im put it back! BryanEkers 21:35, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Cookieville Administrator
[edit]Offhand I don't know his name, but the administrator of Cookieville has appeared in enough episodes (and was the first one to find infant Leela after her parents left her on the Cookieville doorstep) to warrant an entry, either alongside the orphans or under his own name. I'll get to it in a day or so if no-one beats me to it. BryanEkers 18:00, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- Should also include that he is a level 135 beaurecrat, I wrote his name down during last night's ep, I should be able to track it down later if you haven't found it yet. This should definitely be included here. Stardust8212 18:35, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- His last name is Vogel, I'm not sure if a first name was given. Stardust8212 21:33, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- Just write Mr. Vogel. Micoolio101 02:18, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Micoolio101
- In case I or someone else eventually adds this an additional note would be that he has a photographic memory per Leela's Homeworld, I'm too lazy to work on it right now. Stardust8212 03:00, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Image orientation
[edit]I just reoriented a ton of the images. In case anyone was wondering why, I placed them relative to where they were looking at so that they always face the text (ie: if they were looking left, they are on the right). EVula 20:19, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Shoulda put Morbo in the middle then, heh. Would it be be bad form to flip some of the images (assuming this doesn't reverse text or cause similar distortions) so all the images are, say, "facing" to the left, then put them all down the right margin of the page? BryanEkers 17:51, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- I like having them switch sides, I think it looks better. In my previous attempt I switched them so every other one was on the left (left, right, left...)Stardust8212 03:03, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- I admit the alternating looked better, but it just meant the page had to be reworked anytime a new entry was added. Oh, well... BryanEkers 04:36, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
Celebrity Heads
[edit]Just trying something new. I've given a brief explanation of the whole "heads in jars" thing and listed some of the recurring heads. I think it helps to distinguish them from Futurama's original characters BryanEkers 07:16, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
Space Mutants image
[edit]The image of the Space Mutants (for the Horrible Gelatinous Blob entry) from The Simpsons has disappeared, possibly because whoever submitted it didn't fill out the form properly and Wikipedia deleted it after a week. Can someone submit a new one? BryanEkers 22:49, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Consistent formatting of episode titles
[edit]I've been applying a standard; putting episode titles in italics rather than quotes. I'll be gradually changing other Futurama pages as I find them. BryanEkers 01:43, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Expand
[edit]I put up the expand template because this needs more characters, such as Hattie the old lady, Alcazar, etc.
Micoolio101 02:15, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Micoolio101
Alcazar's a one-shot. Hattie might qualify. The title is recurring characters, not every character. There are two one-shots on it already that could be eliminated; Fishy Joe and Phillip J. Fry II BryanEkers 04:12, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Oops, just checked. Fishy Joe appeared twice. BryanEkers 04:23, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hattie has her own page, which is very short and should probably just be merged here. As far as I can remember, and correct me if I'm wrong, the characters on this page which are NOT recurring are as follows:
- P.J. Fry II
- Yancy Fry
- Free Waterfall Junior
- Free Waterfall Senior
- I can't think of any other recurring characters that aren't listed. Stardust8212 03:47, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- The Waterfalls are a special case, though, since they serve a common purpose (left-wing politics) and guest voice actor. Also, the inclusion of Frida Waterfall kind of suggested the Futurama writers were planning to have more Waterfall appearances, possibly with one dying, another one jumping forth to swear revenge, only to comically die (and have revenge sworn over his/her corpse) etc. Yancy (as well as his and Fry's parents, who could be added to the page, possibly alongside Philip II and Yancy jr. under a "Fry Family" heading) appear in at least two episodes: "Luck of the Fryish" and "Jurassic Bark". BryanEkers 14:28, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- As an afterthought, the owner of the Ultimate Robot Fighting League (who hired Bender) reappeared as the owner of the New New York Mets (who hired Leela). I don't know his name, but he likes jerks who start fights in movie theatres. BryanEkers 03:53, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to write up the Nibblonians (as well as the main ones.) Micoolio101 04:53, 10 July 2006 (UTC)Micoolio101
- I just realized that Terry is included but Leela's boss doesn't seem to be, I know he appears at least twice (Space Pilot 3000 and How Hermes requisitioned his groove back). I don't know his name unfortunately.
- I see that Seymour was added last night, does have a recurrence after Jurassic Bark I don't recall seeing him in any other episodes. He might be an important character in that episode but if he's not recurring... Stardust8212 11:47, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I guess since Seymour is considered recurring we should also add Gunther(the monkey) who also makes a brief appearance at fry's funeral. Stardust8212 03:03, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- We should add the crack addict and Gus the hobo, as well as the Australian.
Merge
[edit]Hattie's article is quite short, and there's no more info about her. Seeing it's short, it should be in the recurring characters of Futurama, since her name isn't in the futurama template. Micoolio101 11:00, 5 July 2006 (UTC)Micoolio101
- I agree, but then again, I'd already suggested it. Stardust8212 11:24, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Leela's parents Jewish?
[edit]Taking into account the diversity of the show (Jamaican Hermes, Chinese Amy, Yiddish Zoidberg, etc), might we consider noting the apparent Jewishness of Leela's parents? Morris is a typically American Jewish name, and their mannerisms and accents are highly derivative of those sterotypically assigned to northeastern U.S. Jews in pop culture.209.169.114.213 03:47, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- After 1000 years, what is currently a stereotypical Jewish accent might become a stereotypical New New York accent (there's already some overlap). Unless it states somewhere that they're Jewish, may as well leave it be. BryanEkers 04:16, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Randy Munchnik
[edit]"Randy is actor John DiMaggio's favorite Futurama character."
I remember hearing DiMaggio say this in a commentary, although I couldn't tell you which one. I find its factuality to be questionable, though. After listening to many of them, the commentaries appear to be various people from the cast and crew talking about the show and joking around. It seems probable that DiMaggio was calling Randy his favourite character as a figure of speech, because if I remember correctly the comment was made after a funny line said by Randy. I think my point is this: if there was a magazine interview where the question "What is your favourite character from Futurama?" was directed at DiMaggio, I find it extremely hard to believe that his answer would be "Randy"/"That stererotypcially gay guy." I also don't even consider that he would say "Randy Munchnik" because most actors seem to be fairly casual fans of the show they're in.
Just because someone says something does not mean it is true. For example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Jerry_Holkins#Equine_relatives
I'll admit I am fairly uninformed when it comes to Wikipedia's policies, so I'm not sure what to do. Any thoughts?
More characters
[edit]I just read this page, and I request more characters.
I request:
- The Crack-Addict [1] (Appeared in My Three Suns and 300 Big Boys)
- Glurmo the worm [2] (Appeared in Fry and the Slurm Factory; half of him appeared in Brannigan Begin Again, and Anthology of Interest II)
- The Australian (Appeared in How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back, and A Pharaoh to Remember)
- Gus the Hobo (The shorter one in this picture: [3]) (Appeared in The 30% Iron Chef and 300 Big Boys) --AAA! 11:16, 5 October 2006 (UTC)AAA!
- Why add articles about subjects for which there is absolutely nothing to say? The article has too many entries as it is. Spejic 16:49, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- I tend to agree, any character that appears in only two or three episodes without contributing in any significant way to the plot really belongs in the List of secondary characters from Futurama. Stardust8212 18:35, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Split
[edit]This article should be split in two: List of recurring human characters from Futurama and List of recurring non-human characters form Futurama. Thoughts? --Jeffrey O. Gustafson - Shazaam! - <*> 06:52, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- It is rather long but I think instead of non-human characters it would need to be List of other recurring characters from Futurama or some such jazz since they would be non-human and non-robot. I'd actually prefer to reduce it to only the more significant recurring characters, like those that had more than just a passing glance in more than one episode (i.e. Morgan Proctor who was significant in one episode and was barely shown in another) The only problem being that who should and shouldn't be included becomes very subjective at that point. Just my 2 cents. Stardust8212 14:31, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Cubert
[edit]Do you think that it was a good idea for me to give Cubert his own page?
Go Futurama! 07:25, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- It looks pretty sparse right now and like a lot of the other shorter Futurama articles I think if the wrong person stumbled across then they would go down pretty easily in an AfD Stardust8212 15:17, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- It's like someone heard me (creepy!) Holophonor and Planet Express Ship are on AfD. Stardust8212 00:11, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Freedom Day Beads
[edit]I'm not certain that Lindsay was offering beads to see Morbo's chest, or that it was his chest that horrified her so. Typically, beads are exchanged for public exposure during mardi gras, and during that, men are usually offered beads for showing their genitalia, not their chests. I think it's therefore more likely that Lindsay was asking to see Morbo's reproductive organs, and that those organs were what horrified her so.
Celebrity Heads Pictures
[edit]Somehow these are not showing up in their correct locations anymore, at least for me. Is everyone else seeing the same problem? I know they worked just a few days ago but now they are funky and my attempts to return them to the correct places have failed. Any bright ideas? Stardust8212 15:53, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
I find if the head images are put on the left, they conflict with the table of contents. I know somebody wanted to arrange the images so the character's eyes faced inward, but the formatting won't allow it to stay pretty. BryanEkers 19:54, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- Which is so strange because I swear they were on the left and still looked pretty about a week ago, it's like something in wikipedia itself changed because I checked and the article didn't. Oh well, thanks for the fix. Stardust8212 20:00, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Characters with their own pages
[edit]Should characters who have their own pages be linked from this page? I'm thinking it might be useful to have links to the pages of the recurring characters who have pages so that if someone is looking on this page for that character they will be able to find it. Just something along the lines of:
Mom
[edit]The same would go for Walt, Larry and Ignar who a lot of people probably expect to find on this page but don't. I think this small change would really make this page more complete. Thoughts? Stardust8212 15:00, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
- It's been over a week with no comments so I'm going to go ahead and do it. If anyone has a problem with that please let me know. Stardust8212 19:58, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- Done, the only question is where to add Walt Larry and Ignar, each as their own entry (like the one above) or just last as "Mom's sons" and format as above. Input would be appreciated. Stardust8212 20:25, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
- I like the idea of having them grouped together as they are rarely seen apart from each other. As an aside, above I believe it was mentioned that perhaps some characters could be integrated into existing articles in order to shorten this list (Amy's parents to Amy's page, Leela's parents, Michelle to Fry's page, etc.) this would also eliminated the need to have Walt, Larry, and Ignar here. Then there could maybe be a list at the top of the page of characters people might expect to see on this list with links to where they are. If that makes sense. Chickenmonkey 08:35, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- There was already a "See Also" section at the bottom of the List of recurring characters from Futurama page which listed Calculon and people were still asking on the talk page about where Calculon is. A list like that at the top might be rather long and, well, ugly looking. Might still be the best idea though, I just like this method because I had seen it implemented elsewhere and it was a quick easy fix. Stardust8212 15:52, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, that's right. It would look pretty bad. Well, to fix the problem of how to integrate Walt, Larry, and Ignar into this page, the header of "Mom" could be altered to say "Mom and her sons" and just leave the link pointing to Mom's page since the sons are discussed there. Plus, that might be a better option for listing characters that can be moved to elsewhere (list "leela's parents" here and just link to leela's page where they are discussed). Something like that.Chickenmonkey 20:12, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
