Jim Dolan
[edit]Why is Jim Dolan, who has died, listed as a recurring character and not a past character? 110.32.82.175 (talk) 22:11, 24 August 2011 (UTC)Geoffrey Hilliard
- Jim was a recurring character not a regular character, that's why he's here. The List of past Neighbours characters is for regular characters only. - JuneGloom Talk 22:16, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
One episode characters
[edit]I've been thinking for a while that characters who have only appeared in one episode should be removed from the list. I have always believed a recurring character is someone who appears more than once during a show. Indeed, Wikipedia's own article on the subject states: "A recurring character is a fictional character, usually in a prime time TV series, who appears from time to time during the series' run." What do we think? - JuneGloom Talk 23:52, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- I have noticed some characters being added to the list that are extremely obscure. I was in two minds about it - but seeings that the dictionary definition recurring means to show up again or repeatedly - I do not think characters that have appeared the once actually belong here.Rain the 1 20:07, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
- Ditto. If we remove them, I hope no one creates a "List of Neighbours characters who appeared in one episode" article. Do you think we need a wider input or would this discussion suffice? - JuneGloom Talk 22:02, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
- I guess we are meant to wait for others to comment. It has been open for enough time for comments - a month without comment. Plus, they really shouldn't be there seeings as they are not recurring. I think it is common sense to remove them - and hardly controversial as they are so minor. Soap operas forever have postmen and doctors popping up in episodes - do not really see the point in listing them again - they have mentions [if they are notable] in the minor character lists.Rain the 1 22:11, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to agree that if they've only been in it for one episode then they shouldn't be included. If someone does start to create such articles as suggested above they can always be put on a redirect.--5 albert square (talk) 23:21, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

IMO, If "John/Jane Guest X/Y" only appears in one episode, They shouldn't make the list. Basically 2 or more appearences qualify as recurring, in my book. C2K6TALK TO ME FFS! 00:29, 24 June 2012 (UTC) )
- Thanks guys for your input, I think we have a consensus now. - JuneGloom Talk 23:52, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
- I just realised what a "fun" task this will be, especially with 71.237.208.127 around. C2k6 removed a character earlier and the IP added him back, twice. - JuneGloom Talk 01:21, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Requested move on 20 July 2022
[edit]Recurring characters of Neighbours → List of recurring Neighbours characters - This move would align this article with the majority of other recurring character articles, for example List of recurring The Simpsons characters, List of recurring Blue Heelers characters, List of recurring Entourage characters, the list goes on. If a counter-argument to this requested move is that it would be too hard to update all the links, it would be simple to just go through every year list article one by one and update all the links (using Control+F and other tools to make the process easier). - Therealscorp1an (talk) 10:34, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
