Punk??
[edit]Tubeway Army (synth pop), Jam (new wave /mod revivalists), Joy Division, the Cure ... just some of the acts that don't belong on a list of punk bands. Vauxhall1964 (talk) 13:08, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Tubeway were most definitely punk when they began check out The Plan 1978 album(not a synth in sight) and the first album. Gary numan was a member of mean streets who were famously on the live at the vortex album. The Cure started as a punk band called Easy Cure, The Jam were certainly punk in spirit at the beginning of their career. Joy Division were not punk at all although their previous incarnation as Warsaw certainly was Paul panic (talk) 11:22, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
List of wikipedia articles
[edit]This is a index of wikipedia articles which contains an incredible amount of redlinks. I will be removing those redlinks.Coffeepusher (talk) 16:25, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
- this is a list of wikipedia articles, not a random list of every UK band ever. Only those entries which have a wikipedia article should be included.Coffeepusher (talk) 00:45, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
I will say it a third time, this is a list of wikipedia articles. If the band is not important enough for you to write an article about them, then they are not important enough to be included on this list. There are several bands that I have removed which as far as I can tell have absolutely nothing written about them, no information whatsoever on the internet. This is a encyclopedia open to everyone, if "everyone in the whole wide world" haven't bothered to write an article about a band, then they are not notable enough to be included on this list.Coffeepusher (talk) 10:55, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- ok, I'm only on the "S" section and we have already reduced the article from 68000 bytes to 23,972 bytes which means that when we are finished approximately two thirds of all these entries didn't have a Wikipedia article attached to it.Coffeepusher (talk) 17:26, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
- The final count is prior to removing the redlinks this article was at 68,700 bytes, now it stands at 16,207 bites which means that about 76% of the original article consisted of bands not notable enough for someone to write a wikipedia article about them.Coffeepusher (talk) 01:10, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

- Adam And The Ants mk1 (1977-1979) were a massively important punk band. So were Siouxsie and the Banshees up to about 1978. I think you urgently need to learn up about the early history of some of these bands, they were both vitally important parts of the 1977/78 scene just as much as for example the Slits, X Ray Spex or Generation X. The fact that they later became more famous for other stuff is immaterial 62.190.148.115 (talk) 15:54, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
"King" (redirects to Captain Sensible)
[edit]I'm glad the good Captain clearly has a fan, but this is just silly. The only band called King that could at a stretch make it onto this page is this one. 62.190.148.115 (talk) 15:57, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
King were very much a punk band and even had a peel Session although only lasted a year. Not to be confused with the Coventry band who later used the name. Paul panic (talk) 11:29, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

Please remove "Adam and the Ants" from the list. They were NEVER EVER a punk band. They were "New Romantics", a completely fabricated despicable money-grubbing shit movement, the very opposite of punk, and EVERY punk hated them. I know, I was there. 188.63.31.25 (talk) 14:00, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
- Not done: Justification for the request is one person's opinion. I suggest taking this up with WP:PUNK. —KuyaBriBriTalk 15:28, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
Artist name mispellings
[edit]Both of these spellings are incorrect:
Toyah Willcox Masters Of The Backsides
But if I correct them, they no longer point to the (correctly named) artist page. So, someone please fix.
Removal of Skrewdriver
[edit]There is growing opinion that Skrewdriver should not be considered as a punk band - if you want to be technical about it, they are an Oi band and an ultra right-wing fascist band at that. Definitely not punk - the fact you cannot see any videos on YouTube should be a clue as to their unsavoury attitudes.Pgarbutt (talk) 22:07, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
Screwdriver should be removed from the list they are a nazi right-wing band and not classed as punk. Ellyuk82 (talk) 22:36, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
This is all true but they were an original punk band. The first album and only that band contained no right wing content and was released by chiswick records. All releases after that are right wing Paul panic (talk) 11:15, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
The Accused
[edit]A lesser known UK band but active in the UK from 1978, and releasing the Mell Square Musick Ep in Sept 1979 on their own No Rip Off Records label with 4 of their songs on, they went on to release a further 3 albums on cd
Standing Trial - The long lost tapes (Retro recs 2011) Live at the star club 1980 (Retro recs 2014) Shirley Temples Dead. (Retro recs 2016)
They should've had red hair (Detour recs 2018)
They are still in existence with original members and still recording Paul panic (talk) 11:12, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
“Youth in Asia” link is incorrect
[edit]The “Youth in Asia” link points to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_in_Asia, an article about youth in Asia, instead of the band, Youth in Asia found at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_in_Asia_(band). 107.127.14.103 (talk) 05:21, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
