Presidential proclamation 2152 of 1981
[edit]This proclamation declared certain areas as Mangrove swamp forest reserves.
"PROCLAMATION NO. 2152
DECLARING THE ENTIRE PROVINCE OF PALAWAN AND CERTAIN PARCELS OF THE PUBLIC DOMAIN AND/OR PARTS OF THE COUNTRY AS MANGROVE SWAMP FOREST RESERVES". Official Gazette. 29 December 1981. Retrieved 11 November 2014.
Should they be included here? Unbuttered parsnip (talk) mytime= Tue 19:28, wikitime= 11:28, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Comment. I'm not sure this category of protected area still exists under the National Integrated Protected Areas System established in 1992. If you check out the 240 protected areas published in the Biodiversity Management Bureau website of the DENR, there's only those categories in the article that are declared. But will try to investigate further when I get the time. I know the island Palawan is classified as a Watershed Forest Reserve in its website, and some like Bongsanglay Natural Park, previously a mangrove swamp forest reserve under the proclamation you posted, have been reclassified.--RioHondo (talk) 23:02, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

- This article was based on the 2012 list from the old DENR website when the Biodiversity Management Bureau was still the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau (PAWB). Back then, there were only those in the article posted on the website, so any additions since means we probably have to carefully update our list. My understanding though is that until they are declared under the new protected areas system (NIPAS), those that have been established prior to 1992 would have ceased to exist.--RioHondo (talk) 14:11, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- Well I'm not sure what "declared under the new protected areas system" means if appearance on the DENR-BMB website isn't it. It certainly needs expert guidance. Unbuttered parsnip (talk) mytime= Mon 17:19, wikitime= 09:19, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Mangrove Swamp Forest Reserve
Do these count as 'protected areas'? I'm thinking particularly of Camotes Islands.

Yes Sir, it's an initial component under NIPAS.

- Thanks. I see it under the initial components list in the BMB website also. You can proceed with the necessary update.--RioHondo (talk) 10:06, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'm on tour now and internetting on my phone screws my eyes. Maybe when I'm back in my own house.--Unbuttered parsnip (talk) mytime= Sat 08:24, wikitime= 00:24, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
