Tsunami and war
[edit]I suppose that the tsunami and the cancelling of the truce should be two notable events to be mentioned for Rajapakse and Wickremanayake(2), respectively Jasy jatere (talk) 08:41, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- I can't find any sources mentioning this, (though I know it is true). If you can, please add them. Chamal Talk ± 03:41, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Dinesh Gunawardena Political party
[edit]Can someone explain to me what Dinesh Gunawardena's political party was when he was the Prime Minster of Sri Lanka? Is he SLPFA or MEP? —IDB.S (talk) 06:55, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
He was a member and the defacto leader of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna when he was appointed as the PM. [1][2] --2402:D000:8104:1E9D:A8E9:DAE1:F33A:30CD (talk) 10:20, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- There is a problem, at the time he was appointed he is the Leader of MEP. Meet Sri Lanka's new Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena Also in parliament.lk website it showing last elected Party not the current party. IDB.S (talk) 10:30, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- But his main political party at that time was SLPP. Both those websites identify his political party as the SLPP. Also the change of his party after calling nominations for the presidential elections should not be applicable for his premiership which was begun in 2022. --2402:D000:8104:1E9D:A8E9:DAE1:F33A:30CD (talk) 10:46, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, you have a point. But the problem is when he was the PM he held it as the MEP leader, not as a SLPP Politician. Also, I don't think we have to add his previously elected party. We need to add when he was the PM, not the party when he was sworn in as the PM. IDB.S (talk) 10:56, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- We have to follow the core policies of Wikipedia, and support our content with reliable sources. I am afraid atm there are no reliable sources to support your claim trhat he was appointed to the premiership as the leader of MEP. --2402:D000:8104:1E9D:A8E9:DAE1:F33A:30CD (talk) 11:26, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think these are support for my claim. When he was elected: [3] When he was the PM: [4] It supporting that he was the Leader of MEP before, when he was PM. IDB.S (talk) 11:56, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- The sources do support that his party was the MEP when becoming prime minister, and states SLPP as just an affiliation. So it should be changed to MEP here. SLPP is anyway mentioned in his personal article. And the list title is "Political party of PM", not the individual's party. So he became PM as MEP and its the one that should be entered here. A bit of a grey area but its obvious. @IDB.S VihirLak007hmu!/duh. 12:22, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. Reverted to the original form. IDB.S (talk) 12:40, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'm a bit late to the party, but I agree, his main party is the MEP he has always contested as an MEP member. The party just aligned with the SLPP under their Sri Lanka People's Freedom Alliance. [5]--Blackknight12 (talk) 12:44, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah. Sources were added as references to the article. IDB.S (talk) 12:54, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
