The map, Belarus, and Finland

[edit]

I recently reverted this edit, WP:AGF. as it was an inappropriate change to the image caption. A comment re this posted here produced some info there re this from another user. I'm commenting about this here in order to get it documented on this talk page. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 14:48, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gender

[edit]

This article doesn't mention about gender. Many countries have forbidden women to run for president. 2A00:23C7:5882:8201:2DF7:6C74:36B0:A16 (talk) 09:03, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can you clarify "many" with a list citing supporting sources? Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 23:27, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Taiwan" vs. "Republic of China"

[edit]

This edit, reverting an anon's edits that would have changed "Republic of China" naming to "Taiwan", saying (Reverted 4 edits by 172.100.82.12 (talk): Unconstructive) caught my eye. I don't have a political axe to grind here, but I see in MOS:ID: "When there is a discrepancy between the term most commonly used by reliable sources for a person or group and the term that person or group uses for themselves, use the term that is most commonly used by recent reliable sources. If it is unclear which is most used, use the term that the person or group uses.", linking to a couple of footnotes in that article. It seems to me that Taiwan is the preferred identifying term here. I'll wait a few days for discussion; iF if none develops and if the renaming is not done by another editor, Please note the Taiwan article 's lead sentence. I fully agree that the section should be renamed to Taiwan, and I'll go ahead and make that change myself. I reverted the IP edit because the section had been named "Taiwan (Not Republic of China as the world Recognizes Taiwan as a Free State)", if it had just been Taiwan I wouldn't have reverted.
